What is the distance to the beginning of your flue? Didn't know if you could set the IS low and have a rear exit into the space where the insert is then go up. Like this one from the WS info page.

IS is on sale now. If you order it, you'll get the sale price as long as you pick up by July. If something happens and you have to cancel the order, you can. But since you are pretty sure you want the stove, maybe order it? (PH is also on sale)

Just looks like with everything set to min height you'd miss by a 1 1/2 or so. :(

    30 and flurries.

My wife (!) built a fire two hours ago. Two of our homemade fire starters in a cold stove with no kindling, just medium size splits in a crib pattern with the fire starters in the bottom, burning like a top in a matter of minutes. Her family were avid campers since she was born; I don't know why it took three seasons of burning but she's finally building fires and running the stove and enjoying it.

Sherwood, my deposit is in august of last year they had a foundary issue in Europe so I waited. for me I thought I should wait remodel hearth some before I put it in. I seriously still have wooden wainscoting 1 foot from stove and want to tile it. silly me I built my hearth to insurance company standards. they made me build a chase for Duravent but said wood a foot from stove is ok. :bug: looking at my wood consumption I should have switched it anyway but really hard to take working stove out midwinter. my back up heat oil h20 will not keep living room warm and its wife favorite room with wood stove. without a stove I would be less happily married. wife favorite spot her wing back chair a glass of wine watching snow fall ordering Christmas presents on tablet listening to ella fitzgerald. she hasn't hit 40 yet... I got a great one huh! :D

    Sounds like a great life.

Nice big old wing back chairs are the greatest for warmth and relaxation. Your wife's no dummy.

yeah she is a dual citizen her mother is from trois-rivers. smart beautiful.. I'm a lucky man.. now if I can get her to make final decision of stove design it would be great. apparently she wanted 2 different scenes on side legs and they have to be the same. so back to square one. mmmmm

I take 3 oz paper dixie cups and pack them tightly half full with paper from my office paper shredder, melt old candles from Good Will in a slow cooker I got from Good Will for $7, and fill each cup with about 1.5 oz of melted wax. I also use up saw dust from my table saw to make them. They burn awesome for 12-14 minutes, but I make sure not to engage the cat before they're completely consumed. We rarely need kindling with these as long as we're using dry wood.

I was wondering about that myself. Did you ask WS? They look like they are individual pieces, just an insert that goes on the side not the whole side, I don't see why they couldnt seeing how they will mix n match all the other ones.

I have some ideas but I suck at drawing. I was thinking a mountain/lake scene with a canoe. Hiking in the mountains and paddling are probably my most favorite things to do and I've done them since I was in my single digits (Adirondacks & Whites). I was thinking either zoomed out with a small canoe on the shore with a nearby tent and campfire, or with the canoe front and center like just the nose of it.

The good news is that if you don't like your design they can be replaced by another. Those side panels slide right off.
Mine is cool and all but I think I will probably mix it up and order different ones at some point.

yeah I asked they said no. think that was only time I was disappointed. I think the cutter does both pieces of design at same time for quality issues making them perfect matches.

How much are the side panels? If you can only have one design, if it isn't too pricy one could order an extra set, and just use one of each.....

Canadian Border VT, I'm a dual citizen too. My family has always said that anyone whose family has been in Canada for 200 years is related to everyone else who has...there just weren't that many people back then. My sister is doing geneologic research, and is finding it surprisingly true.

It's 29 degrees with a real feel of 15 here today. My draft picked up nicely and the Ideal Steel is showing off. Here's a teaser for those wanting the Ideal Steel.
