There is another plant in western wyoming, but it would be a truckload, 30 tons. I don't have enough neighbors to do that, and certainly I'd like to try them out first anyway.

I think WaddleRemodel is closer that way. He burns wood but I wonder if we could arrange something.

Pellets made in Maine are selling in Maine for a minimum of $244/ton right now. The same pellets are selling in CT. for almost $300. It certainly seems like we're being screwed, but I imagine the demand in higher here that on the left coast.

That certainly doesn't apply to Maine.

All the time? I bought Blazers last year and this year at HD for their normal pellet price, I think $229 last year and $239 this year. But that was a result of last years shortage. They bought pellets everywhere last year and the Blazers ended up in New England. I think the pellets I got this year were left over from last year. You can't find them anywhere right now, so it was a one time thing.

You might be able to land those for $269 ish a ton here......in that case you'll REALLY need a bigger shed...

Yes, that unfortunately is the catch. Then you have that possibility of some loss from that long azz trip.

Seems to be the truth. I bet the boxes were breaking even at the prices they were selling them. If Joe Schmo can get them delivered across the country for $289@ 100 tons, what do you think HD could do. Especially if there is an excess of DF fiber. Which could be the case. There have been stories about westvcosst lumber inventories being high.

Unless HD trucked those in themselves or something, they had to have taken some type of hit on those.

Naw, I like it here too much. Too much to offer, coast, mountains, a large wilderness, lobster.

True. I don't know if rail or truck would be the best method, but then again, not many pellet houses are going to have a rail siding.

What's the trucking cost? About $100 a ton? They can be bought retail in test coast for 170-180. And they are making money. I can easily see them buying them whole sale under $150. That would put them at HD for roughly $250. Throw in their pricing power on bulk buying and their trucking rates. Seems like they could easily break even or make money on them.
