One of the best ways to see how the file needs to be held is to put it against a known good cutter and make the file follow the contour of that cutter. What happened to the chain I sent to you ? Cant you place the file into one of those teeth just to see how its oriented ? I used a Save Edge double bevel.

Keeping pressure in the right area is not one dimensional, and the file MUST move in a laser like movement, finally - the tooth should not move.

You're getting a slight line showing. The angles on the file probably need to be rolled a little towards the side plate and it will grab the little piece of top plate you're missing.

Kinda hard to hold the file and my big azz phone.

But you get the idea. The long side of the file sharpens the top plate, and the small outer angle sharpens the side plate.

I can see the line better now. Being low won't hurt as much for speed but doesn't help durability.

Now its starting to come together Skippy !!
    Looking much better !!

The rest is for you to go cut and see what changes in corner alignment do for you, meaning now it looks like you have all top beaks (top line for departure is below the top inside corner) ............ filing with increased pressure towards the top will bring the line into the corner and remove any beak with the line perfectly in the corner .

Then see what changes in top plate angle, corner alignment angle (the line in the corner goes from top inside corner to bottom inside corner - any other place the bottom inside corner line deviates from will change how long the edge lasts and will also change how the cutter cuts), top beak and side beak makes the cutters cut differently as well. Its all about having fun now, and if you can be your own worst critic - you will see how much better you will get !

Remember too, the whole chain works together, including rakers (don't let anyone tell you differently) .......... they can make or break any chain !!!

Probably the last square I will ever do. Dont cut to bad. I was able to take a stock 475 77cc with this chain and out cut a guy with a woods ported 505 83cc top on a 475. I didnt tell him my secret.
