I friggin love my Planet Jr's. I don't have a seeder attachment but have the hoss swivel hoe. I also have one of the old dual wheeled ones. Made a small version for my boys too. I have 2 planet whiz bang wheel hoes under construction but have been slacking on them.
I check CL every day for Planet Jrs. I picked mine up for $20 last summer. The swivel hoes are awesome. I have 2 sizes. I contacted Hoss about producing a 3" swivel hoe for those of us who plant intensively. I think a hoe the width or a little wider than the wheel would be awesome to use in salad beds. Johnnys has a 3 1/4" hoe on a handle but I'd rather just push and walk.
You could make one. Take an old bow saw blade and bend it accordingly. Use flat stock for the top stirrup. A small piece of channel for mounting to the unit. Drill the holes onersized in the flat stock to create the swivel action. If I get off my but one day to work on mine I'll post some pics. Lotsa other stuff to do and have Planet Jr's so this has kinda taken a back burner.
One other thing I would recommend if using a regular hoe. Get one with a long handle. You probably know why though.
Yep...We farm. Got horses, cows, miniature donkey, chickens and 3 hogs. Also raise a small garden. Never a dull moment around here!

It's based on promoting food freedom through liberty and real freedom and opposes farming for the welfare state and the use of public funds. My position is you can not be master of your farm while a slave to a system that obtains its funding through coercive means.
BCB, That sounds like a great idea what you are trying to start. We have a 5+ acre homestead in Maryland. We have 10 chickens and a quarter acre garden. Most of our food goes into canning or to friends. This year we are getting fruit trees and a starter bee hive. Good luck in your endeavors.
My 3 year old wanted to till the garden the other day. He's always talking about planting the seeds he finds in our food. Makes me feel good that he knows that's where food comes from. We did go out for lunch the other day and he had chicken I asked him where it came from. Course he said an egg, asked where the egg came from. Rather loud and confident he said a chickens but.
Smart kid. My wife and I were just discussing the garden. Planning what we want to plant. When we are gonna sow seeds in the basement for seedling planting. Rotate some of the veggies Planning.
I actually had good luck last year direct seeding tomatoes and peppers. Granted I didn't get them early but they grew well.
I've hired a local nursery to grow my tomato, pepper and eggplant seedlings. They take up too much space and hang around too long for my limited seed starting space. I'd rather that space be used for early crops that will start making me money come May than late July.
Went out Thursday after work to put hay out for the cows and saw 1 standing off by herself and thought oh no it's too early and cold for calves yet, our overnight temps have been in the single digits to lower teens the last few weeks with 6"-8" of snow on the ground still, but sure enough there she was. Didn't see it since then, I was afraid she might have frozen to death or worse eaten by coyotes. Spent Saturday afternoon looking but no sign of it, went to feed the cows this afternoon and there she was in the barn.
Thanks, a large scale beef producer friend of mine lost 3 out of six calves due to the cold weather the last 2 weeks.
I lost an old cow Friday. Saved the calf. Have had several more in the last week & all are doing well but one. We're keeping a close eye on it.
Sorry about the cow, hope all is going well, 3 more calves here this past week, temps are getting more reasonable as well.
well im already 10 days behind schedule due to the weather...3/4" of rain over the next 2-3 days...so might be closer to 20 before I can get in the field. this sucks!
