    Did a little hunting today:
Oxford HD- GS $5.19-bought 12 bags
    TSC Sturbridge-Big Heat-$5.40 bought 5 bags
    Wal-Mart Leicester-Nature's Heat-$5.22 bought 5 bags

Getting back to my comfort zone:smoke:

Your comfort zone is how many tons? Is that all year round or for next season?

I want to have two tons left over and will buy two tons during the spring/early summer. Heading in to fall I want at least 4 tons.

Thanks! Is this so you are assured fuel on hand if there is a shortage, or for budgeting reasons? I'd like to safeguard us as well, tell me the strategy please.

I think I need some help planning. Burned 7 tons this season, have 3 left in pole barn.

I will likely use a bag every day or so through the summer for nights and mornings.

We had a milder than usual winter and spring here (WOW 2013/2014 was a doosey!!) I would S O L if we could not get pellets. Yes we have the little woodstove, but is more supplemental and emergencies...

Thanks for any advice from any of you.

The pellet supply has been a little crazy the last two years. This year there was not much of an issue near me. There were pellets at all times but choices may have been limited.
Early spring/summer is normally the lowest prices of the upcoming season. So I fit as many as I can hold at that time. Currently it is four tons or so. I may buy a bigger shed to increase capacity to six but I don't think it will be this year due to the inability to clear a spot in my yard in time.
This method allows me to kinda pick and choose to some degree during the burning season on how to fill my last ton and a half I need for the year. I burn about 5.5 tons. Also, if the something good pops up during the season I can but as I go along. That's what I did this year and that is why I will have two tons left over. With the way the pricing has been lately it is better to have some in the bunker to ride out any swings in the market.

I forgot I didn't really answer your question regarding if it's a money thing. Not really. Pretty much all recurring expenses I funnel out of my checking account and into various other accounts. Pellet/Propane is one of such accounts. Weekly x amount goes in and I never have to worry or think about where the money will come from. I then swipe a cc to buy the pellets and transfer the money over and pay it off in full each month.

They are out right now. They blew through those GS, MM, and O'Malleys quickly. They will likely get more on wed - fri of this week, and with the weather warming up a bit they will probably last a little longer from here on out. I will let you know.

Geno, in my opinion the Lacretes are a really good pellet, in fact I had a bag in the hopper last night because of the temps. They have hardly any ash, but I think the Blazers have just a touch less. The same pretty much goes for the heat. But they're so close I think the only way to know for sure is to have Stevo do a side by side comparison. It just so happens I went to SIB' website last night, he's selling the Lacretes for $289. I don't know how that prices compares to where you are.

This is one deal killer for the new converts from what I hear. New buyers are backin out and gettin cold feet because of the supply issues. If the pellet peeps don't watch it the growth could get stiffled and not only will pellet sale lose growth. But pellet stoves will again stagnate like the 2008 season.

We may know how to play, But newbies hearing that their friends had issues getting supplies may just turn them off on that new stove purchase.

Those Nature's Heat are Pennington's, right? Interested to get your thoughts and thermocouple readings on them after you burn a couple bags.

I am running down my hopper as we speak. Once empty I will test those out. Probably by the weekend.

    Yes, they are Pennington.
