Was at a LOCAL store today, and couldn't believe this price, right by entrance I mean, OMG Steep is understatement
That's awesome. Best part is it's marked SALE, as if this is marked down from some normal higher price! I thought the Infernos I saw for $7/bag at the Big Y were bad, but this takes the cake.
I paid $4-$5 per bag this year depending on the brand. Heard there were Ligs here and asked hubby to pick up a bag. over $7 , no thank you!
I would assume anyone who has a back up of Oil furnace, gas, or Electric would be a fool to pay that much. feel sorry for the ones who Have No backup and almost forced to pay that much.. I would drive 30 miles away to pic up cheaper just to NOT give that store the business. gotta be somewhere around that store that sells cheaper but who know's... That is deffinitly the highest priced pellets I have ever seen advertised..
Agway was running that same scam in November 2014 on AWFP. Same placard but AWFWP was in the photo. This is worse, because now it's basically SC @ 9 clams a sack. Ray Is that southington?
My wood burning neighbor was interested in a pellet eater. Once he saw these crazy prices(local place has a 10 bag limit at $8 bucks a bag!) and found out they are scarce. He backed out and filled his oil tank!
I think you missed the fine print. It's 3 easy payments of only $9.99. They'll even throw some pellets in the bags. Now that's a steal!!
If I had oil and didn't already own a pellet stove there would be no chance of me buying a stove this year. The investment returns are longer and longer and the work involved would not be worth it to me.
Agreed Give it time as we all know that oil will not stay low and hopefully this will bring some of the pellet pricing down but I am not counting on it. All this being said, if pellets do not come down in price like oil did, then it appears like they are going to stay high and possibly never have fluctuations where you might pay less. That in itself might keep newbies from buying stoves-in their minds, at least once in a while oil can come down and save them money for less work and more even heat
Just found this calculator at Wood Pellets .com I plugged in the average price near me for pellets and oil. And used 4 tons as what the average household would use in pellets. So at how much does one have to save to make pellets worth it to them?
Here's some premium Doug Fir Okanagan pellets......cheap! (not including delivery $) http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/hsd/4906912729.html
X2 I have electric, But If I didn't save at least $400 or so clams during the season? I'd just use the juice! Gotta pay yourself with something to make this worth it!! Wow!!
