Same price I would go LaCretes. The AWFWP had more fines. That being said they were an absolute steal at the boxes this year. Burn as good as anything out there except DF IMHO.
X2... Or Clean Energy's or Turmans.. Tha KS to my Bro in Law chbryson I would love to burn some of the new AWF. They were pretty close to me, but I never made it out that way to get any.
Havnt burned any type of AWF here so no vote. What's the pricing like on the AWF White Pine as LaCrete are in the 290 range around here so that could be a factor
No AWF WP for me neither. Love them La Crete's(or any of the other BC blondies), Just wish they weren't so spendy!!
They were $4.99 a bag at TSC this year. And maybe a bit cheaper by the ton. HD had them for a little more.
I voted AWF,? Only because I don't like unanimous votes! Haven't burned either but I suppose price would have something to do with it. I'll be glad to test either for you all, send me your donations
Price is definitely a factor here, and if performance between these two products were similar I would vote for the AWFWPs. However, in my stove I was not able to get decent heat out of them, and they kept jumping out of the pot before they were fully burned. Someone said burning these was like watching a fireworks show, and that's exactly right. It was like I got bags of nothing but large fines. I was glad when they were gone. When it's the coldest Feb on record, and I need all the heating power I can get - I don't mind paying $40/ton extra for the pellets that are going to keep my house warm! I'm going with the La Cretes on this one. They definitely do produce more ash, but they also produce a lot more heat, for me anyway. Having said all that, I am convinced the bags of AWFWP I picked up for testing were questionable quality (the old batch variance trick strikes again). Why? Because I'm jinxed, and also because most everyone else raves about them, so there's no way what I experienced can be the norm. If I find them again next season for a decent price, I will give them another shot. HD was selling these for $5.58/bag or $270/ton this year. TSC got a bunch of them in a brief period in Jan when their price had dropped from a high of $5.59/bag down to $5.19/bag and since these are softwood, they charge $0.20 less per bag, so we got them for $4.99 which was nice.
