A buddy got me into older .22's a couple years ago. Up until now I've just had a Remington 514 single shot made sometime in the 50's, but I've always lusted after his Remington 510 Targetmaster, which is still a single shot, but was more of a "premium" gun. Well I finally found one at a pawn shop over the weekend! Made in 1941, it's got some dings and scratches, but the bore and action are in great shape. I can tell just from sighting it in at 20 yards yesterday that this is going to be a shooter! There was a lot more craftsmanship that went into these guns, as both will out shoot most of my modern .22 rifles. In the pic my 514 is on the bottom, and the 510 is on the top.

I'm still on the lookout for a good price on a Winchester 67 which is also a single shot and known good shooter, as well as a Remington 512 Sportmaster, which is just like my new 510 but has a tube fed magazine.

Anyone else have any older .22's?

I've kept an old .22 rifle for 50 years and it was around for a while before... my brother helped take a small buck with our uncle waaay back when. (The uncle's 308 mighta had sumthin to do with it too) I should know what brand it is, but I don't. It has a 6 round clip and I added a cheap scope to it. Fun to go plinkin' with.

I have my grandfather's Winchester 62 pump gun. Shot my first squirrel with it.

Winchester 74 here, my grandfather's, mgf the year I was born, and shot my 1st squirrel with it, too. It's still a tack driver. Me, not so much any more.
Those are very nice weapons, bassJAM.

My dad has a 511 scoremaster. The best shooting 22 I've ever shot with open sights.

Funny this thread popped back up, I finally got both of these out on Saturday comparing how they shot at 40 yards. I'm not going to show my groups because they weren't that great, but that's because I'm out of practice with a rifle. I used to be able to knock over a 20 GA shell at 40 yards about 90% of the time with my 514, but I was grouping just over 1" Saturday with both of them. I need to start shooting these again I guess, hopefully .22lr ammo starts showing up again because I'm getting close to having only 1000 rounds of bulk ammo left, which might only last through July or so.

That .22 shortage is still plaguing us, hope we get some relief soon.
Here, Rem 341-P, 4-digit Belgium Browning SA-22, multiple Stevens and Springfield single shots, old H&R 9-shot revolver, others I'd have to dig out to identify.
Oldies but goodies, all of 'em. Like the older ones.
Have an original 1858 Allen& Wheelock .44 center hammer Army, oldest thing I own. Was my great, great grandfathers- Civil War relic. Less than 800 made.

Wow, that's priceless to have and know the history!!

My oldest is a Marlin 1897 made in the first decade of the 1900's. It still cycles and shoots, but neglect left the barrel pitted and the crown nicked, so it tumbles bullets instead of spinning them. Unfortunately there's no family history, my dad bought it off his brother in law because it matched the Marlin 39A Dad's had since a kid.
