image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Put some new dawgs on the 441 the one that came with it sucked. These are oem dawgs. Would have been nice if stihl would have made these standard.

I have realized I need bigger Dawgs on my 029 super. Those bigger trees need bigger Dawgs.

I know, the 029 isn't in the same category as a 441, but as my biggest saw, I see a need for bigger Dawgs. I actually think I only have one dawg from the factory.

I believe the roller catchers advantage is that it gets removed with the outer cover. The other one stays there and can sometimes grab the chain as you try to swap to a different one, plus the roller one does look much better. I believe they function the same, whichever one you run will catch a broken chain.

Them dogs do look much better on that nice looking saw !!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the location of the roller catcher (farther from the saw) versus the factory catcher makes clutch cover damage less likely with a thrown chain. Maybe helps prevent chain damage in that situation too since you aren't catching it with metal.

Im all ears here myself I was going to keep the roller catcher for a while and if I didn't see the need for it send it to someone here that would use it. I just would like to know if there are any advantages with it vs stock

I got larger dogs for my 365 - I find the extra length helps me rest the saw more easily without hitting the chain brake.

The roller catcher was intended for use with longer bars and chains. It's mounted further forward to compensate for longer chains derailing. It's safer to use than the aluminum mount position.

I'd run the roller! A few benefits of the roller.

    1) the roller does not get hung up with chips when noodling, like the stock aluminum one does. * (see footnote)
    2) easier to swap chains with the roller.
    3) when your new chain stretches and sags a little,, the roller will not dull it, like the stock aluminum will when the chain comes in contact with it. (see pic)
    4) I'm sure there are other benefits to the roller, but those were good enough for me to make the switch :)

*every time I noodled with my 441 and stock aluminum catcher, there was always a clogging of chips (around the aluminum catcher) that I had to pick out, never had clogging with the roller!

If you dont want the roller I will buy it from you ;) send me a PM.

Leave the factory catcher as it is, and put and a roller catcher extra.:D
I think that the stihl - husky must take the situation more siriusly and put big spikes and roller catchers as standard in all pro chainsaws , cost them nothing
