I'd love to see a teak floor! Pics please!

I've got a teak swim platform and other teak features on my ski nautique. It's nearly impossible to get teak now.

Don't white dogs have to burrow into the muck whenever they see it? It's in their DNA... :zip:

Loon, I just have to say" Triple like". You deserve more than a like button for those pictures. Thanks for the laugh. Don't they just look guilty?

    Papadave. Thanks.

Horkn, I'll try to get pictures for you. Not the easiest rooms to get pictures in: I put teak floors and trim in all the bathrooms:D. At least I learned something during my sailing days. Those are the only floors in the house that I left natural. Couldn't bring myself to poly teak, although it would have looked pretty. My daughter tiled the tub surrounds, and used the slim pieces cut off some teak to make trim for the tile edge. Worked out nicely. She is quite a good artist, and painted tiles for the bathrooms. Maybe someday I'll take a picture of the tiles. Guarantee you'll want her to paint some for you! She hasn't quite finished the children's bathroom yet. She is doing the forest floor, complete with bugs, butterflies, tree trunks, snakes, frogs, mushrooms. I love it.

    Exactly.

Anytime any of my dogs ever comes into the house looking like that, it's straight into the tub, or an outside hose bath if it's nice enough out. That tends to limit the opportunities that my dogs have to get that filthy. Usually they only do it once. Then they think about the consequences if they do it again.

No matter how nice you are about it, dogs don't like baths.

IF he's clean enough to let him walk in (rather than me carrying him), I tell Artan, "We've got to go clean your feet. Come on." He goes right into the bathroom and jumps in the tub. And, he doesn't shake at all. I stopped him doing that the first time I bathed him...I just kept one hand on his back all the time, and he stayed still. He's a smart dog, and he learns quickly. He knows he's going in the tub, and he knows it's easiest just to do it. For a while, the first winter, we had a few darts for freedom when I went to pick him up. Probably helped that he was born Dec 25th. He grew up with winter.

Funniest thing I ever saw was the one and only time I put boots on him. He tried to walk without putting his feet down. If you've never put boots on your dog, give it a go. It's worth the performance. I think they get used to them pretty quickly, but it just seemed mean to me...he hated them so much. His half sister wore them gladly, once she got used to them. They do make for easier pet care in the winter.

I put two pretty small maple splits in early this evening. One was only about 12 inches long, rectangular, about 6" x 3", the other also rectangular, but about 16 inches long and maybe 2x8 inches. I'm dying in here. It's almost 80degrees. Every night lately has gone down to near 0F. I can't believe I am saying it, but I hope it does tonight......But bet it stays near freezing, so we'll have a slushy mess, and I'll have a hothouse.

I have fond memories of the aurora borealis from when I was a kid living near Montreal. I would see them many times each winter. Now that I live this far south I have only seen them twice in the last 35 years. The first time I was driving with my wife and I had to tell her what she was seeing. Even though she grew up in NY she had never been out at the right time to remember seeing the northern lights.

Interesting. A good number of years ago I was driving on the NYS Thruway heading West toward Utica, when we ran into a traffic jam that literally had the traffic at a standstill for many minutes. Looked to the North, and Lo and Behold, there were beautiful Northern Lights. I got out to look at them, and pretty soon there were a lot of folks standing in the middle of the NYS Thruway...neither being sights that one often sees! Be funny if we both saw them that day.....They were pretty spectacular.

We see them lots here over the lake summers. (looking toward the North Shore).

Just got home from a 17hr shift. It's 32deg outside with 6" of snow. The mrs had the volcano cruising along at 450 so I just topped it off with 2 large white oak splits to last till morning. Time to count some sheep:sleeping:

When I was working for a living, before retiring, we had a weather station with a remote recorder. You could see any new weather front by watching the recorder and even a 10ºF temperature change in less than 10 minutes was not unusual.

Getting colder, has suddenly switched from light rain, to heavy snow, large flakes, being driven slightly from the SW. So the wind has not yet switched to the North. Supposed to get a strong north wind this afternoon--gusts to 36 mph. And the temperature is supposed to plummet again.
