In the past I would use , sledge n wedge or noodle em . Tried something different today. I think I'm going to like this way better , roll em up the ramp Got er up there pretty easy Got er started Got It made now Shag bark hickory What I got from that round No more monkeys beatin on the big uns Filled up the trailer
Sweet set up. For your birthday and Christmas ask for gift cards to NAPA or whatever store you shop at and get yourself a 12 volt winch and a battery even less work getting the big ones up there with a set of old thongs attached to the cable. Where there's a will there's a way.
I thought about using a winch but this works pretty good, I would have to make a ramp out of wood or something , the rounds are not going to slide on that wire mesh ramp, use what I already have. I also thought about a boom with a winch hooked onto the platform but that way would take longer than this and cost a lot more money
yeah one of these days I will spoil myself with a vertical splitter. I have already gotten my 340 dollars out of this one just waiting for it to break or wear out but it just keeps going and going
Thanks the splitter has just been living out there under the tarp for 2 years now. No way am I going to bend over with that thing just sitting on the ground. I got some 4 by fours I want to put it on so I can take my motorcycle jack back into the pole barn
HD. What splitter is that? I've been thinking an electric splitter is a good thing to have at the house, since I don't own a gas splitter. I borrow my parents gas splitter, but it's 200 miles away, and I borrow one from as friend, but that's always a pain. From what I have been seeing, some of these electric ones are pretty darn good.
The electric ones will do a lot more than some people think , Mine is a Harbor Freight 7 ton , 2 speed , splits all my wood, not sure why but they don't sell this model any more . There other 7 tons out there , basically the same thing . MrWhoopee has some videos of his 5 ton in action
I was trying to remember who had the little latter deal on their splitter, I did remember it started with a B so I thought it was beetle kill or you. I was thinking that maybe I should put some wood slats acrossed it, not sure if those would make it harder to get the rounds up there or not, but would keep the rounds from coming back on me.
Since all of my wood comes from off site, I built a ramp for rolling the big uns up into the truck. While using it the other day, it occurred to me (again) to put some slats on it to help hold the round while I get another grip or footing. Once it's in the truck, it's at splitter level, no ramp required. I was just looking at the Home Depot site today. The Homelite model is still $299. Might buy another just for backup.
I figured you would show up before long . Check out CL if ya want a back up , saw 2, 5 tons the other day a Ryobi for $100 OBO, another brand looked like new, used for just 2 trees $150
