I got word today that Stihl is going to have a saw between the 441 and 661 that is fuel injected in the near future. The guy that told me said they have not assigned a model number to it yet.
They came out with the Carbon Fiber Concept saw not to long ago? They also have a Concrete/Cut saw that is already injected? Hopefully a 462!!! But I have not heard word of an actual production model. Here is the concept saw.
The 462 is supposed to be designed with a 461 engine and AV springs/Autotune. It is being user tested now and is due out next year springtime. That CF saw could be a 462 from the looks. FI is available now on their cutoff saws. FI adds a lot of weight to it and cost. Do all the Stihl carbon fiber saws come with those little samiches?
And Dexter, where did you get to see that '462' carbon fiber concept saw (never mind the delicious free samiches!)?
http://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/threads/carbon-fiber-saw.10694/#post-272304 Stihl say they have no plans to produce any at this time
Ah, the MS560 (or there-abouts). No wonder they come with the little samiches, they are gonne be the Rolls Royce of chainsaws (in price)!
I didn't see it personally. Those are from a Google image search. If I would have seen it in person? Stihl would be looking for me and their concept saw lol
Me, I would have downed those samiches before they had a chance to take a picture of them. I would imagine that the concept saw has a GPS tracking device in it. You would not get very far with it.
My local Stihl dealer also told me that an EFI model will be introduced next year. I thought about waiting for it, but ended up getting the 362 c instead. It's already been in the shop for a solenoid replacement, so maybe I should have waited for the EFI!
Yeah, me too. Not very happy about it, either. Having to take a brand new $750 saw in for repairs has a tendency to make me ornery.
So next year it looks like a 461 with spring AV & Otto Tune, and a new 80cc saw with spring AV, Otto Tune/EFI and carbon fiber (and samiches in the little orange tool pouches, as tuning tools will not be needed any more). I presume they both will have the same delay savaging engine design that the 661/461 have now. Meanwhile they quietly put out the 193T, but I see no difference between that and the 192T.
According to Stihl, this technology (carbon fiber and FI) will not go into volume production. It is still a feasibility study product. http://www.stihl.com/stihl-carbon-concept-chain-saw.aspx So no complimentary samwich saws for a while yet.
"The knowledge gained from its testing and development will go into optimizing future Stihl products. " BTW the dealer gave me a Subway gift card with the last saw I bought.
