I am loving these, no lag time. Don't have to go over to the stove to see the stovetop temperature. One glance I see the flames the fire, inside pipe temperature and stove top temperature I know exactly what the stove is doing. If I screw up I have 2 high temperature alarms set, 1000 for the pipe, 725 for the stove top Cruising along with 4 medium splits Pipe on the left ,Stove top right
I love it! Reminds me of "temperature rise" testing of transformers. I believe NW Walker has stated(maybe on another site) that surface temps of flue pipes are off by some amount, differing from the center of the stream of flue gasses. A probe type thermocouple is used for more accurate data acquisition. Maybe yours are, HDRock? Eric VW
Yes there is 4" long probe type thermocouple in the pipe, and it reads just a little over double what the magnet on the surface reads
If I had something like that hanging near my stove my wife would shoot me. She likes the fire ambiance, not the technical stuff to make it happen. She's OK with my infrared meter because she doesn't have to look at it.
yeah, I hear you, you have to keep the wife happy. I was thinking maybe blend in the wires by painting them, doesn't really bother me though
