I am late to this party, but we had many threads like this back over on H*.

I got my HD 30-NC delivered here for about $500 I think it was. No sales tax in this state, and HD used to ship/deliver across one threshold for free. So I had it plopped down next to my hearth in the living room on its shipping pallet. I also got an income tax rebate back on it for 10% I think it was. So it was really $450. Then I sold the old stove for $200, so my OOP cost was $250 total. The deal then was similar to now, but some HD stores had a deeper discount than the $650 like they have in Colorado now. I got mine from a HD in north Virginia for $499. I bought the stove a year ahead of the time that I installed it. Best thing I ever did, because that discount has not appeared at any of the HDs in the last sevreral years that I have seen. I think $650 is as cheap as they get now at HD. Also the free shipping across one threshold became free shopping to your site (outdoors or a loading dock) and then two years ago the free shipping went away altogether. Lowes does not sell these stoves, BTW.

The 30NCs work just fine. They look just like any $1,200 secondary burn stove that I have looked at. After a littler over a year of burning in this one, I can say that they work just fine. We had a much milder winter here this year , but it did keep my house a nice 70 F when it was 18 F outside here in November. My stove came with the free hair dryer fan on the back, but it makes too much noise. I use a quiet box fan at the side and that works the same as my previous stove, and heats the entire house (which is a double wide 1300 sq ft 2x4 exterior framed insulated metal box).

Oh, and no one mentioned it, but the NC30 is Washington state approved, so it is also now EPA-III approved by default. They are also HUD approved and can be used in mobile and pre-fab HUD houses with an OAK.

I could of still picked this one up for free...if I wanted to drive to Colorado!!! ( In store)

Yea I hate I missed all those years of tax rebates...all I can do is hope it happens again this year? They renewed it late last year and made it retroactive.

Stihlhead how many years ago was that?

It says lowes sells the summers heat stove line they make or at lest some of those stoves? But there is a model in the summer heat line and list lowes as a seller.

I have seen the Timberline somewhere online for sale and it too is a line of their stoves and has a model 30 one.
mike holton can probably explain that for us. But England stove works is the company they make what looks like 3 identical lines of the stoves just different name and letters in the stove model but same numbers. They have Timberline that is online places and canadian tire, Summers heat that lowes sells and Englander that HD sells.

Yah, free pickup/store-store shipping does not work with the store discount. I just made my HD store the one in north VA online, and whallah! It took a week for them to ship it and deliver it here. It went east and then north and then west, and then farther west, and then south. They had done the $500 deal the year before at some stores, and I had missed that one. The second time they came up the next year, I snagged one.

How many years ago was what? The purchase? The rebate? Or the install? That was all posted over on H*, but being as I am banned there, I cannot search for my old posts. I installed it about a year ago. I bought it 3 or 4 years ago I guess it was. The federal and state tax rebates were that year and the year following after the retroactive update by congress for approved alternative energy devices. The NC30 had the tax rebate info on the box cover.

Was wondering how many years ago you bought it. I think they have had tax rebates for at lest like the last 4years or various levels.

You could always search hearth posts as a guest.

Or I guess when I get a chance I can log on and search posts under your name about NC30. But it may not have your name on them anymore. Snotty Overkill now is listed as Scott and is a " guest"

I looked at Summer Heat but they are not HUD approved at that time. They are made by England Stove Works, yes. England used to have a web site with all their stoves and parts, but I cannot find it online any more.

Yes, but I cannot search for my posts as Stihlhead there. I am a 'guest' there too, as opposed to being banned for life by Craig the Impaler. NC30 searches result in a million threads over there.

Good, I was missing that page. They sell stove parts direct.

Looks like Summers Heat are now the exact same stoves as Englander, just a different brand name.

Timber ridge are as well. I found them on some website a year or two ago. They had them plus englander side by side. I think Timber ridge was like $50 cheaper.

I doubt if you can get anything comparable anywhere for less than you paid for the England 30 from HD, even with delivery. Some trash them for build quality, but I do not see any defects in mine. I would like a better damper system, with a micro controlled fine tune capacity when almost closed, and a thermocouple controller of some type. I would also like a larger/taller firebox. I do not really care about the glass door, and I would rather have a cheaper version with a solid steel door. Steel radiates heat a lot better than glass does (glass is a heat and electric insulator). But people want to watch the fire, which I rarely do any more.

Yea the NC30 on HD was still she a per than both options I was just referring to on whatever site I was looking at.

Mike @ England told me there building a "smart stove" with a bimetalic thermocontoller device that you can set it and leave it, I guess similar to a blaze king.

Tip him a few bucks and it will get further than you think..

Took 3 people to get mine down the steps of my house and 4 people to get it out of lethal dose basement when I bought it.

So if you have some stairs? Call a buddy or 3

When I put in my High Valley (3.4cuft) stove in I think I had like 5 people to get it in. If I remember right, with out looking I think it weighs 565 poundso_O

I was just trying to think should I put it on a furniture dolly and carry it around back and put it into the side porch till ready to install it or put it in the front room where it will eventually live from day one? I am thinking I will just lift it with the tractor and out it on the porch until I am ready for install then get guys to carry it in. It will probably be delivered mid day when I can't get help.

It stinks for the first few burns. Get some cheap single wall 6" and burn it in good (on a safe non combustible surface )

It's likely a "curb-side" delivery. Have the tractor ready to get it off the truck unless they have a lift gate. Might be worth your time to get the PRO# and call to ask.
