Well, that's good to hear. I won't be able to report anything about them until tomorrow night, as I had the hopper full of Timber Heats.
Yep, this years batch. So far, I've used them for all the cold days, except the 1 night recently that got down into the teens w/ high winds....a bag of Sets went in the stove for that.
Hey I just burned 3 bags of the TSC pellets imacman has and I can say I'm gonna stop tonite and grab 4-5 more bags. OK heat and a little ashy. Would not have guessed Lignetic product, never saw them this dark Schoondog
Schoon...I bought a ton of Ligs this year and did a review....kinda reminded me of Greene Team's....hot but ashy (volume) and DUSTY as all get out.
Wow thats funny, I just dumped the remainder of a bag into a decorative container we use to hold pellets and big dust cloud came up and I thought "boy these things are dusty" Doggy
I picked up a few bags of PTL and they look and smell like the TSC pellets I picked up. Dark, dusty and ashy but fair to good heat. I think that is the link to Lignetics, probably made in Virginia or West Virginia. Schoondog

Here is a handful of Sets, on a hopper full of PTL. Mine are very dark. Have not seen them in about 3 yrs. Just foundsome Fri Night!!! Going back this weekend to buy a 10 bag trial
My last season PTL's are more Cream colored(like the left pic). I have 25 in the kitty, But don't see them around this season. One of the batches I got last season were real dark, But still cranked the heat and weren't all that ashy. I'd still take them over this season chow's. The PTL's seemed hotter IMHO.
yup both PTL and TSC look like pellets on the right, and they share the first several numbers on the upc. Schoondog
Lignetics has three different pellet plants. One in Kootenai, Idaho, one in Kenbridge, Virginia, and one in Linn, West Virginia. The Idaho plant makes their softwood pellet. Their two east coast plants make hardwood pellets (according to their website). Depending on where the pellets are produced, the various brands (PTL, TSC brand, Blue label, Green label, Red label) are going to differ. Also, I don't think the UPC will necessarily identify the individual mill. Generally, the address will be corporate headquarters I would think. I doubt a New York TSC is having them ship pellets from Idaho, when Lignetics has two plants on the east coast.
I sent an email to TSC corporate asking where the pellets came from. Their response was that whatever mill was the closest to the individual store was where they would come from. IMO, where the ones we got here in SENY came from is a crapshoot....both the east coast plants are about the same distance away. Btw, I did get some of the Ligs softwood about 4 yrs ago. TSC had them and I grabbed a ton....they were some nice burning pellets....wish I could get them again. Have no idea how they came to be on the east coast.
TSC is out of the rebagged MWP's. But they got something that darn near made me do a back flip! AWF are in da house. Picked up 2 bags and I just had to toss them in. Heat was better than the chows I was burning. Guess I better go back and load up this weekend!
I've always had good results with the AWF's. And I have almost a ton left of the "Premium" (aka AWF) that I got at Lowes. Gonna start burning them and leave the last of my Timber Heats for spring shoulder burning. But hafta say the TH have done a decent job during the cold days.
