I myself have been waiting the whole year for tax return season, I'm not sure how much I'm getting back yet but I'm hoping it's enough to pay off our 10Windows we needed to buy plus a little bit of my wood hauling truck! Totally looking forward to getting out from under the credit card bus, at least until we buy siding this summer.
Anyone else with big plans for there returns? New chainsaw? New wood stove or splitter?

New roof on garage-- installing my old wood stove out there too. Will have to repair some water damaged floor boards and supports too.

We're only getting $85.00 back so I'll pick up a couple of 30 packs ,a box of wine and have enough left for a nice lunch with my Honey. At least I don't have to pay this year

No refund for me. Haven't had one in many years. I try to break even.

That's the way it should be ,if you get a huge refund you're letting the gubment use your $$ interest free.

I try to but my employer taxes the chit out of everything that isn't a normal paycheck no matter what my W4 has on it for exemptions.

I got a whopping $200 back, that's basically roundoff error in my withholding calculation. I also dont believe in giving Uncle Sam an interest free loan.

I know folks love to crow about this "free money" they get in April. Its not. Its your money that you didn't take advantage of all year. you can change that.

The rules require them to take a flat 25% out of bonuses, RSU distributions, and such. If the rest of your income is going to fall into the 25% marginal bracket anyway with or without variable compensation its not so hard to figure out ideal withholding (this is what I do).

I like it both ways, but having a big refund helps with big purchases and paying down big debt more that a extra 50bucks a check i find i manage money much better when i have a surplus all of a sudden rather than having the same amount distributed throughout the whole year. It helps me put it towards the big stuff

We usually have to pay a small amount, but this year got a couple grand back from the Fed due to daughter #1 first year college expenses. Guess where it's going...college expenses.

I'm getting back around $200. I'm going to invest the entire amount into our checking account and see how long it lasts.

The problem is I don't know if I'll get a bonus or how much it will be. I don't pay a lot of taxes in the end so it is easier said than done.

I always wondered why so much of my bonus went to taxes! I take home around 68% (after paying for taxes, 401k, heathcare, HSA account, parking, etc) of my monthly paycheck, but I normally only get 59% of my bonus, and it only has taxes and 401k coming out of it!!

I only get 62% of my bonus and it only has taxes taken out.
