I sold a saw to a member "Pullnmypoulan" on here and he recommended this site to me. I have been reading through a ton of post, looks like a real nice place. About me: I heat my house with wood, go through about 4cords a year. I Cut all my own wood from my In-laws property, so the wood only costs me time and gas. I help run a firewood business with my buddy part time. Right now we are selling 2-300cords a year. We are looking to increase the production, as my full time job is ending and I have way too much fun in the wood yard!
Welcome! You will find everyone here friendly and helpful, and very non-judgmental. It's like a visit to the old woodcutter's cabin where everybody congregates. Boy, that's a lot of wood--I know the work that is involved, bet it keeps you lean and out of trouble!
Welcome. Sounds like you'll fit in real well here! Feel free to post pictures of your wood production tools. 2-300 cords a year is something for sure!
Here is part of the wood drying in the yard right now, need to get more done. We have just been dealing with too much snow. And the pile before it is stacked
This is not our processor, but we have the same one. I can not find a pic of ours, and it is under a tarp right now buried under 3' of snow
Thanks, PullnMyPoulan is a great guy! He brought his compression tester down with him and we tested all the saws I had "347xp, 7900, 5100s, 450". We did not test the 357xp, since it has auto-decompression on it. I was most surprised on the husky450, that pulled 150psi. That saw has cut more wood than any other saw that I had in the fleet. I was also relieved that the Dolmar 5100s I just bought had around 180psi! We shot the Sh*t for about 3hrs, and when i went ion the house the wife asked "how on earth can you talk about chainsaws for 3hrs" LOL I told her, better that I did that with him than you right
Welcome to FHC mijdirtyjeep ... great looking firewood biz you've created. That's a lotta work, even with extra equipment... and I think everyone here can appreciate that more than most. Looking forward to more pics...
Welcome aboard mijdirtyjeep! Nice Wacker Neuson wheel loader, what size is it.?.. and where are the pics of the dirty jeep?
Ah, the Jeeps. They have been gone for a few years now. It was amazing how much more money I had once I got rid of them. The wife and kids want me to build another one. I just might someday, but would rater build one with my son for his first vehicle. Still have a few years before we need to start that project though. The Wacker is a WL37. It has the Deutz 75hp turbo diesel in it. It is actually up for sale if you know anyone who might want it. It only has just over 500hrs on it! Put a half cord of green wood on a skid and it drives like it is empty.
yup!! the neighbors had to just love it yesterday when he was over. I think we fired up every saw and revved them wide open at least once
It was a good time for sure wish I could have seen the operation.I will have to get back down sometime and check out.
That WL37 is just a tad small for what I need, plus would have to convince my partner (dad) the usability of it. Very nice looking unit.... is the Deutz liquid or air cooled?
It was an impulse buy, what can you say! Seen it, loved it, bought it, don't really need it! It is a liquid cooled engine..
