I cleaned mine around the 2-2.5 ton mark and it looked very similar, with maybe a bit more crud. I didn't take any before or after pics though. Mine was a rush job after leaving work early so I could get the job done before dark and before the really cold chit settled in.

Gotta dump the ash pan tomorrow. God willing, I can shut it down near the end of the month and just let the oil furnace take the chill off when necessary.

Most likely going to have to buy the full kit (12' of flex rods) and the extra 12' of rods. They sell a smaller kit, but it's only a 42" rod. So that would give you less than 16'. With the added 12' of the other kit, it will be enough to go to the top of your vent cap.

This is the one I have. The large 4" "auger brush" on the left (in Amazon ad), along w/ the plastic "vacuum adapter" are the parts for I used to clean pellet pipe. The box mine came in even mentions/shows cleaning pellet stove/pipe. Comes w/ 12' of rods.

One caution: When using it with a reversible drill, DO NOT reverse the drill while the brush is in the pipe. Unless you wrap each rod connection with duct tape (even then I'd be concerned), keep the drill running clockwise until you pull the rods all the way out.....the connections could unscrew and the brush could end up deep inside your pipe.

I use the same kit and extension rods as imacman linked to. Can't say enough good things about it, works like a charm. My P68 flue is 24" PVP off the back, into a tee that sits on the floor of the fireplace. The tee converts to a 4" flex adapter that goes all the way up to the top - about 25'. My flue cleaning process is open the ash pan door, remove ash pan, remove combustion fan cover. Insert shop vac wand extension all the way back until it hits the tee, making sure not to touch the ESP probe (remove it first to be safe). Then go up on the roof and use the Gardus with my craftsman cordless drill on high, slowly going all he way down and back up twice. Very similar to what Dex described. I have to frequently remind myself what Imanman said. No matter what happens, never put that drill into reverse, or you're in for a doosie! I do this process once per season in the fall, before lighting the stove for the first time, and there is barely anything in the flue at all. Just a super thin layer of light brown ash. Those Vermonts really don't leave much ash behind. Can't wait to see what it looks like this year, considering I have burned > 20 different brands between cleanings this time!

Those rods are the same ones used to fish wires in walls except mine GLOW. I had manually fed them up from basement inside a wall once and didn't realized I was turning the rod and yes it unscrewed!!

I lost a rod in the wall, my OCD wouldn't allow me to walk away and leave it lol so after 30 minutes I finally got a rod to screw on and I was able to pull it back out.

The rods will unscrew.. Always run the drill clockwise.

Ohh...mine snap together...not screw. Makes sense, although I probably still wouldn't have figured out that they would unscrew!

That's the big plus to the soot eater kit. Them locking together is very nice but the downside to that, is the rods are thicker and stiffer (jokes. . Haha)
