So after the toasted Italian sandwich last weekend. Well Seasoned mentioned the word "grinders". When I think of grinders, it is usually steak and cheese, steak bombs, roast beef or pastrami sandwiches. So I made this. Enjoy the pics. It was good to get outside in the above freezing temps and sunshine. I did a quick fire in the oven for only a half hour. In the meantime, I cooked onions, red peppers and mushrooms in olive oil with salt and pepper. I set that aside and cooked shaved beef and salami with salt and pepper and steak sauce. My wife made a sauce of mayo and Heinz 57 sauce to put on the bread. This was a full size Italian bread loaf, not a small sub roll. I mixed the meat with the veggies and plopped it on the bread. 8 slices of provolone cheese on top. 10 minutes in the oven, turning every 2 minutes. I took it out and flipped the top over. This turned out excellent. All fresh ingredients made a huge difference.
I'll see your live one and raise you two live ones! (They have settled down from their drooling after eating dinner though.) They turned three years old the other day.
Oh yeah I went and got one. Your sandwich looked so good I had to go get me a Big John I'm guessing not as good as yours but they are really good. Nothing left now but a crumpled up paper that was good Sliced ribeye, Super steak & onion, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, and hot peppers, this is the 8 inch model
Was going to raise you three against the one but you beat me to it with five DaveGunter Awesome post, Jon. It gave me some ideas to try during Spring Break. It will have to be oven roasted though, not wood fired!!
The dogs ate your invitation. Thank you. I like that these are quick meals. Not as involved as pizza or calzones, and can be made in a half hour.
