I like your seat, looks just like mine... ;) That's a whole lot more tractor than my first 2. Old 1o hp Gilson that could hardly get out of it's own way, then a 12 hp Snapper a little smaller than your's. I'd been able to use that trailer you're pullin' too, that's for sure. Of course I'm blinded by all that green & yeller anywho... ;)

Tractors just like that one do a lot of work around this place. If that 304 is a 2006 model then the trans is stronger than average.

Here is my "new" logging winch. I made it from a combination of parts from an old cultivator implement and manure scraper blade. Lots of cutting, welding and fitting! Of course I used some angle and bar and other misc steel to bring it all together. It tucks the battery and winch into a compact package. I still need to add a chainsaw holder, some chain hooks, teeth on the blade, and then paint it. I wanted to try it out today. It works nice for my firewood operation.

    I Love my Massey.
    I've had it a year and a half...125hrs.
The only problem I've had was mice, they liked the massey too. Hung some "Cab Fresh" under the hood, haven't seen em since.

Great set-up FR. Chains on the front must help with steering on ice a lot.

Those chains are amazing. That's my first set of "ice chains", $300 on C-L. Now if only $1400 would drop out of the sky, I'd have them for the rear also.:D
Stinny I really like your Quad with the tracks. Will it go through 2' of untraveled snow? I've really been wanting to see them in action in long winter's worth of undisturbed deep snow. Snowmobiles just need to go too fast in that kind of snow for me. I'd love to be able to go through my woods, anywhere, in the deep snow that we have now. I've heard that you really want power steering with the tracks.

    Thanks for The kind comments.

Stickbender, the winch hasn't dissappointed me yet using it on another set-up. I use a deep cycle battery with it and am pleased with that too. Long-pulls haven't been a problem yet. It's an 8,000 lb winch and I oversized it on purpose.

Since I don't log professionally or winch all day long I couldn't justify the cost of a regular logging winch. One size doesn't fit all so what works for one may not work for another.

Gas, you have not been paying attention:binoculars:! Yes it is, I just keep "doin" stuff to it so it might look different. My brother said that I'm "pimpin" my tractor:dex:

Not really a firewood tractor. But I can imagine with duel wheels all the way around it could pull a trailer pretty well though! LOL The biggest model like this one has a 32 hp Kubota engine! Nice. For what I need to do one of these is not big enough or have enough ground clearance. But I have seen one up close. They seem pretty nice. Didn't get to run it though.:( Does anyone here use one or know someone that does? Seems like another guy I know on another site owns one of these. $

Power steering sure would be nice, but as far as I know, no one makes one that actually does anything. Mine has power steering... The tracks are way too much resistance for it. Even the side by sides have issues. As far as deep snow goes, the tracks are great. Really deep snow can make the rig bottom out on it's belly, and drag so much it'll eventually spin. I've never had that happen but a guy using a UTV for his maple syrup op was just on our news and he had to snowshoe pack the center of his paths for that reason. ATVs may have more clearance, don't know. In the 30" snow pack here a few days ago, if I put it in 2wd, the rear tracks will eventually start to slip. Steering is much easier in 2wd, so on hard pack or bare ground, it's always in 2wd. In 4wd, it hardly ever slips and is possible to stop halfway up a tall snow bank, then go again like it's on flat ground.

Steering is the biggest negative, but I deal with it by putting it in and out of 4wd. Usually, just 2 ways to get in trouble in deep snow... riding over a 6" downed tree that you didn't see, the front track goes over but the rear can't and you can't back up off of it either. I carry 2 short pieces of 2x6 to use as ramps... 2nd, is if you allow the machine to tip too much on one side, it wouldn't be good. They're wide so it's not much of a problem. I might be able to use the winch then anyway, if I was in the woods.
