    Hey Gary,
I wonder what the new control board will address. Will it merely trim the trim so to speak, i.e. lean out the running mode or extend/ intensify the clean mode. We will probably never know.
Have you noticed that when cleaning the burn pot that quite often there is a deposit of ash attached to the lower front vertical portion of the pot ? Its right above the igniter area and easily comes off with the tool or even by hand. I suppose that its remnants of the ash bed that is removed when you slide the bottom of the pot. Been thinking that if folks merely swipe the lever and never/rarely clean the sides of the pot if that adds to the problem of insulating the igniter and prolonging the start and filling the stove with potentially explosive wood gases.

My ashcake always sticks in the pot when you pull the lever, I always have to pushs it on thru. Yep I seem to get a small ridge on the front of the pot. No idea on the board, I know It seems I dont get the same amount of heat out of it when running on -4 even if I turn it up.

No, I also said that properly cleaning the stove will mitigate the problem.

It is somewhat of a given that very few people properly clean their stoves, let alone read the manual at least as far as page 12 in this instance IIRC.

I have been telling people to follow the air flow and to clean everyplace it goes for sometime, but I don't give much hope for that to be practiced. This is a general procedure that applies to any heating system that burns.

An air pump could be installed and periodically pulsed to clean in front of the igniter such is done on the 10-CPMs (some folks with that stove are looking for a way to not have that take place), the burn pot could be redesigned to not be in the configuration it is and easier for the ash to be ejected.

Whoever sets the stove up should also educate the customer about how to do the adjustments and when and why they are needed.

I don't have access to any numbers for anything about that stove but this isn't the first time this has happened nor will it likely be the last time no matter what Quad does and it isn't just Quads and it isn't just pellet stoves.

I know only what has been posted and relatively easy to locate online. The glass thing (once with small kids on the floor in front of the stove) has happened in 4 cases that I am aware of.

Yea I definitely don't get the heat on the -4 trim level and I turned it back to -3 this morning. Did a pretty good clean on it this morning and chipped away a layer of carbon that had began in the burn pot floor. Don't recall having that build up when running at 0 trim level. Not real thick, but noticeable.

My dealer called today and I'm getting a new control board. He couldn't tell me what the board will address but maybe the tech will know.

Well from the size of the snozzle on your avatar I'd say a lot but I thought I'd be more caring.

Have been following forum for my mt Vernon e2 on hearth.com. Read all negative posts about this model. Burned 4 tons this season (1st). Stove performed great. Had new board installed last week and discussed my theory with the quad tech. We both agreed that while using thermostat when stove restarts, if pot is not cleaned, a delay could cause additional pellets to fall and cause the smoke condition then a "flashover" when fuel reaches ignition temp. He also said when on manual setting, because stove won't shut down unless you manually do so most likely wouldn't have the ignition problems. All stoves should be regularly cleaned and maintained for the best performance. That is all. Love my Quad!!!!

Welcome Stevedc3 !! Got my recall done Friday evening. Couldn't get home in time to talk with the tech and my son didn't get much out of him. Stove has turned on a few times since work was done and seems to run fine.
After running for the season and burning 3 tons + I have to say I love the stove too. I wish the thermostat worked a little better although I finally found a home for it were it works pretty well. Emptying the burn pot once or twice a day is no huge deal and I went two weeks a few times this year without a good cleaning. I think the stove saved me a little on pellets this year compared to the USstove I had previously which is why running on t -stat mode is kinda important to me. Really keeps the house warm, even running in low/medium. Its easy enough to clean and looks great.
Hey Gary go ahead and get r done :smoke::D

Just caught up on this. Haven't heard anything from my dealer yet, haven't pushed it, waiting on reports. I did notice on my baffle where the flame hits that that is eating away in a few places! Book says it can be from overfiring. About 90 percent of the time I was running mine on 1-1/2 to 2 very rarely did I ever run it much above 3 for much length of time. schoondog have you pulled yours out for a cleaning yet? The dealer said I shouldn't need a gasket on the exhaust flange as it would be reusable. Just wondering if you found that to be true and how hard it was to pull out? I do not have the slider kit.
    Oh and Welcome stevedc3 !

Gary I have had my baffle out several times, but I have not pulled the exhaust blower. I did get a new gasaket for the exhaust just to be safe even though my dealer also said the gasket is reusable. Shouldn't have any problems as the gasket is robust looking. `
Oh and I put the fuel trim back to zero and heat output seemed to be better. Flame definitely bigger. Got the stove off now that spring seems to have sprung here.

Thanks! I pulled my baffle every week when cleaning it, but now the year is over I gotta slide it out and do the exhust and intake cleaning.

Oh yea, I don't like pulling it out and really hate putting it back in. Really due to the way my fireplace (heatilator ) is made and the way the vent pipe enters the chimney. I may cut a piece of the fireplace to make it easier, though I really don't want to modify it.
Helps if ya got two people to pull it out.
