As long as I've been burning here I can say safely I use 4 to 5 cord a winter.
Some quick pencil figures and I had about 4-1/2 cord in the shed, well heres whats left:eek:.
Gonna have to dig into the "snow" covered cherry back there…

Man Dave looks like your down to the nitty gritty in the shed. I am in the same boat. I got some marginal stuff that can get me through. My shed holds close to 6 cords though.

I have plenty, but it's full of snow now as everyone else here on the coast. I built that shed with the sole purpose of a winters store of wood last year. Hmmmmm…. Maybe ol' Al was wrong about this warming stuff…:rofl:

On a good note I have cut down by almost 2 cords on the amount of wood I burn. Better wood, the baffle and better loading techniques have all helped.

Al can't be wrong the Internet that he invented said so.

If I didn't have my baffle in Grandma, she would have ate 6+ cord by now easy!!!

Wonder how Razo made out this year?

I definitely think the baffle made a huge difference. I think I might add just a little more to it for next year, like a piece of 1 inch wide angle.

Yea, I'm sure he'll come along and give us an update, I'm curious also… Just a simple baffle makes a "HUGE" difference.

With this winter and where we live, I don't know how most will make it through without using 5 cords or so... It's not exactly over with just yet either...

I'm into my 5th cord now. When we had some cold nights, I was pulling some big Cherry rounds from the out back pile. The shed was filled to the rafters, "twice". About half of the first load fell out… :picard: That pile close to the shed, thats snow covered is all Cherry, It's from the Hurricane Sandy. It "WAS" a real pretty tree.

Dad and i have both burned about 4.5 cord each so far. The first section of the shed is empty. Workin on section #2 with about 3 cord left in there. It was kinda of sad when i grabbed the last split from the first section :(

Yup, I think it has to happen to everyone at least once, it builds character… Back about 10 years ago I was coming home with a load of nice small, 6" to 8" rounds from a clean up job that I split the tree with a guy, Was stopped at a red light down here at the Green Creek light on 47, "which I'm sure you know of", pulled off, my tailgate flew open and lost 2/3rds of the wood in the street!:eek:o_O:headbang:, not to mention my old 021 along with it. "NOTE" it was a "JUNE" weekend at the shore, do I need to say anymore….
