Very cool, but did you really have to use pink lipstick?
How'd you drill the magnet, and where'd you get it?

Do you use it to walk down a log and mark your places to cut, then remove and make the cuts? Cheers!

Just made a small steak mark and drilled. The whole thing is magnatized but the actual magnet is in the round base. The stem is just part of the housing and that piece is threaded also.

I have used weaker magnets before with a little success. I make the cuts as I go.
    Ordered from k&j magnets this part #is mms-e-xc. 2015-03-06 20.18.37.jpg

Correct. I threaded the rod tight and then drilled it out. Screenshot_2015-03-06-20-53-50.jpg

I was thinkin about makin another one out of these ,2 meter mobile fiberglass antennas , I have a bunch of em I got free .
With that magnet ,I would just have to cut it to length ,then it's the right size to cut 1/4"-20 threads on it then screw it in

The saws vibrate so much I wouldn't trust just threading it in tight. Try an trim or file it down to fit and still pin it.

I would think it would be easy enough to attach a rod to a long nut, and replace the front bar nut with it... as another way to get a guide firmly in place... not sure of the standard thread size, but a nut like this... and, maybe somebody makes a guide that hooks on this way.

Looked into that first. Could not find any that would match up. I believe they are 8mm 1.25 on mine.

After a dry fit I'll just put some loctite or epoxy in there

That magnet dosent move easy at all that's why I opted for easy removal and securing of the rod.

Yeah with the magnet it is possible to switch which side of the bar it is on to go up the log from either side. With te nuts you're stuck one way.

There is a product called Quick sticks. Sold by Bailey's. They use a long nut and they have 3 plastic rods of different lengths that screw into them.

This is a good idea and similar to bogydave device.
