We about froze before we got done but he will get some nice lumber from this one tree. I get the top and one other one that had fallen last fall. It will come in handy.

Here be the tree. It was struck by lightning several years ago. All dead now. My apology that one picture did not turn out. That was with the tractor and a long cable tied to the tree so we could get it down where we wanted it to fall and not on our barn. He was on the tractor and I was on the saw.

And the top of the tree.

Neighbor has the tool to take away some hard manual labor. He and I both wish he had a grapple.
    IMG_0003.JPG

A little crook in this log but still some good lumber.

Finally got it all loaded. 4 nice 10' logs. At the base it measured 27" at the smallest and 35" at the largest. That butt log had the tractor pretty light on the rear.

WTG Dennis :) I see pictures of trees all the time here, seeing them on your trailer gives me perspective on how huge they really are....WOW.

Looks like that was well worth getting cold for nice bunch of logs:thumbs: Better than my day, I spent 4 hours sitting in the truck stuck on a hill on route 11 near Natural Bridge :headbang:

I hope you can post some pics of the process turning them into lumber.
And I hope the two of you are feeling well.

Nice big logs, but also it looks like lots of good dry wood in the top of that tree too. Good work guys and I bet you were happy to have that tractor and wagon:)

Thanks WW. Here is another sample. The 2 pictures were taken with my wife in there just so you could get an idea of the size of this thing. This was a cottonwood.

She looks a bit tired in the second pic. Let her use the power saw next time!

Thanks Dave. We're doing well but the lumber won't come for a few years or whenever he needs it for making cabinets. Usually he gets a portable mill in and then other folks come with more logs; me too. We all get together for a couple days of hard work and fun.

You got it Shawn. Not sure how much firewood one could get from that but a bunch for sure. There are four 10' logs for him. The rest is mine.
