Had a great time with some friends duck hunting this morning on the lake. Shot 20 ducks, a mixed bag mostly Buffleheads, then a few Mallards, Rudy, and Shovelers, and one black duck. Wow it was fast shooting, those little buffleheads come in low and fast. First shooting light this morning you couldn't see them until they were right on top of you and they came in so fast you couldn't keep your gun loaded. It was awesome. image.jpg

Awesome! Let us know how they taste. I always wanted to try duck hunting but there is not a good place to do it around here.

Congrats, that's a good day. They are fast lil SOB's but that makes for better sport. Post pics of them roasting!

Tasted awesome! Breasted out and marinated, then wrapped in bacon and into the skillet. Put the skillet on hot coals in the stove. Perfect. image.jpg

aaawwwlll yea!! Now that looks tasty!! Duck is fairly greasy, so they look as though they are cooking real nice in the stove

Nothin like tryin to knock down those little butterballs. We've got a huge concentration of them down in the coastal areas. Can't tell you how many boxes of shells i've used tryin to hit those suckers. I used to duck hunt every chance i got but now i focus more time on deer. I need to shoot ALOT of ducks to equal the amount of meat i get off a deer.

You are very right about a lot so shells to shoot those little buggers. And most of the shooting was in the first 10 minutes of shooting light. Still a little dark so hard to see those things until they are right on top of you.

Nice pics.... :) Great hunting, but as said above, I am not a big fan of the meat. Although, the deep belly of the Princess, with bacon wrapped around them, they do look mighty tasty my friend.

Heading out again in the morning to get some more! Went out to the lake tonight and there was hundreds of ducks hanging around the blind. There's a nice little open spot of water in the ice surrounding the blind and the ducks seem to like it.
