I wear Labonville Comp chaps, a good pair of leather boots, gloves and glasses. I need to get a forestry helmet soon, I think the mesh screen would be nice, plus the hearing protection.

I use the helmet and ear muffs, but I never liked looking thru the mesh so I wear safety glasses instead. Just had a little reminder for me as to why I should always wear that helmet when I'm felling... had a 3"x 12' dead limb, up about 30', snap off an old oak near the stonewall and stick into the ground hard... on a flat dead calm day. Hmmmm... got a lot of those on many of our trees too.

Leather gloves, safety glasses, ear muffs and chaps.....but I'm worried the chaps make my butt look big.

    Good thread!

Safety glasses (perscription), forestry helmet, chaps, and Carolina logger boots, atlas nitrile fit gloves. Unfortunately, I got all that stuff after near misses in each department. I figure all that stuff is cheaper than my copay at the ER!

I saw a video one time put out by the Washington state dept. of labor about logging safety and it said the average chainsaw injury results in 110 stitches :jaw:

I also make it a point to tell someone where I'm going and when I think I'll be back. I keep my cellphone handy in a shirt pocket should my legs get pinned. I also try to wear hi-vis clothing so I can be spotted easy by emergency personnel.

helmet with muffs gloves and boots. If I am just bucking I will where muffs and safety glasses. Cabela's had a ridiculously great special on muffs so I got some for the whole family. Now, they can load while I buck. Otherwise, they would have to wait until the loud chainsaw was somewhere else.

Great thread!! I have the blue Husky chaps I bought locally, when the time comes I will visit the Labonville store in NH(stopped in there last year). I wear the chaps all the time, cutting and splitting. They not only offer protection from the saw but they help protect my pants from ripping also. Along with chaps, forestry helmet w ear protection and screen visor. When it starts getting warmer out I switch to ear muffs and safety glasses, chaps still go on even in summer.

Chaps, steel toes, foam ear plugs and sometimes I double up with ear muffs, safety glasses. If cutting trees down I wear a forestry helmet. Always keep my phone on me and let someone know where I will be. I will call and tell them I am felling a tree and will call them back at a certain time. I have never been much of a glove person but depending on the temp I might have a pair of leather ones on. I did use a pair of the rubber coated thin gloves the other day. I was impressed.

I like the forestry helmet with the mesh visor, I'll probably try the mesh goggles this year. I have an assortment of ear muffs/ear plugs.

And in the alternate use department I have found that my helmet with ear muffs is great to wear when running the snowblower. Your head stays dry and warm under the plastic. You don't have a hat full of snow when you are done.

Long chainsaw chaps, helmet with screen face shield and muffs, gloves and good work boots not steel toe. I make a habit of keeping my chaps and helmet with my saw.

That right there is a woman to ride the river with. Splittin wood, bare foot and will probably cook her mans suppa when she is done? I fail to see the problem here. Reminds me of my wife of over 35 years.

Can anyone recommend me some good chainsaw pants? I'm thinking about getting the Husqvarna ones, and I'm not really sure what other options are out there.

I have a Jonesered safety kit - hard hat w/ face shield and muffs, and half-wrap chaps. But the chaps really suck - one of the clips is already broken, and they're always sliding down on me, so I hardly wear them anymore. I always wear the rest of the equipment though - leather gloves, waterproof steel toes, safety glasses, and the rest of the kit. I wear the hard hat even when I'm not in the woods for the earmuffs.

I bought some HD suspenders that clip onto my chaps. They work great. They'd be down around my knees without em.

I have a pair of these from a local Canadian supplier and I posted the link in a thread a few weeks ago.

Machria ordered a pair and seems happy with them too.
