I was doing a double take to see if it was really Loon. If it really is him, spring showed up early. Looks like a hot tub, slide the wood fire under the tub and enjoy the warm water. Now thats a hot tub on the cheap!
http://www.motherearthnews.com/homesteading-and-livestock/solar-hot-tub-in-one-day.aspx There is another woodstove in the garage that i'm thinking could replace the firepit and could hold up the center of the trough? Just started thinking about this on the weekend and am pretty sure i'm gonna give it a go.
Out in the sailboat years ago we were cruising by a little bay on an island and saw a cast iron claw foot bath tub sitting near the beach with a nice fire pit arranged underneath. There was a residence nearby and some campers as well. I wasn't sure if it was the community hot tub or the daily bathtub. Either way I thought it was a great idea. Edit: after reading the article Loon posted, I think the cast iron would hold heat longer but I would want some foam to sit on in the tub. It would be a little heavy to pack around the yard.
If you want a laugh, continue to read the comments at the end of the article. Some good ideas about sitting material in the tub though. I think someone mentioned pallet wood. Also the cast iron tub which would have a built-in drain.
Just a fun hot tub gang and Mrs loon is all over it right now. Good call with the hot sitting part WW Gonna see whats what with the tanks tomorrow and thinking the woodstove would give me more control on the azz burning.
