Was at the local Sec. of State office yesterday (they're only open Tues., and Thurs.), and started gabbin' with a couple guys while waiting for the guy at the counter to get done (yep, a total of 4 people, and that's crowded), and of course talk of the weather turned to firewood, which turned to them being firewood sellers. Very convenient, since I'm a firewood user. Co-eenk-edink? Perhaps. Anyway, they aren't too far away and said they'll deliver for $55/1/3 cord. Oak, Ash, Beech, Maple, and then it was my turn at the counter. I got their number and will probably order a 1/3 cord as a start and see what size truck shows up. Probably won't happen until spring, and there will be pics when/if it happens. Been wanting to try some Ash and Beech. The price is the same as '06-'07. Nice.
$165 cord of split and delivered is unheard of here - not sure how it compares to other prices in your area - sounds like a GREAT deal! Cheers!

That's the going rate around here too 55 a face cord delivered , what they call seasoned . I texted a guy the other day about 8' ash logs he has for a price , but didn't get a text back. You don't have ash where you cut ???
No Ash where I cut HDR. I wish. I thought of the possibility they might not want to make a trip for a single 1/3, but it depends on the vehicle they have for that. Might see if they'll sell me rounds, then I'll split. I'd like to see what they consider 1/3 cord before getting in too deep with 'em, because the guy I've dealt with before delivers a true 1/3, and if they don't know what that is, I'll just go back to the first guy. The guy my brother deals with is a little sketchy, but his price is good at $50/1/3.

Not an issue for me. This will be for '17-'18 or beyond. Heard a lot of good things about Ash and Beech and would like to try them. The whole point would be to get me back on track. I'll still do my usual css. Three cords would work.
The problem with those loads are the small logs, I'd much rather deal with bigger diameter stuff. Maybe they're bigger diameter in person.
