MillerModSaws and the PS-7910

version 1 was the 102/27. The other saws are now gonna be worked up to those numbers experimenting with blowdown as I go. Really interested to see a 102/30 vs 102/27.

 

I've done them at 100 129, 98 128, and even higher on a couple.

 

Which recipe did you find to be the strongest ?

Depends on what you want The saw for. The 98 and 100 are both strong work saws And probably be good for cutting smaller wood racing if they had unlimited coils. I'm going to do one at a crazy high number for cant racing when I get another cylinder to play with.

 

I would like to run one with the "complete" recipe done to it. I think for the 102/27/80 to really work, the chamber needs to be cut, roof raised, and transfers to follow. Just a theory..

 

What do you mean by the chambers cut? More than the squish band cuts I did on these pair of saws.?

 

The ones I did for the other guys didn't have the chambers cut. I would like to cut one and do the recipe that was suggested to me. I will do another one with,a cut chamber.

 

Nope. I meant just like you did..
I can see how 2 saws with same #'s could run differently..
I gots lotsa theory's rolling around in this head. I'm thinking more time/area of upper transfers is a good thing on this saw, but ya can't do it at the expense of BD... That being said, there are a couple ways to get there..

 

Once that recipe is made, there ain't no picking the butter back out of the dough...

The transfers on your mutt are a bit wider Tha I normally go. You can see them through the exhaust port easy.

 

Ok boys thought this little visual may help. This is saw 2. The exhaust now is at 102 deg. This is me making my trans. From the roof of the exhaust to the bottom of the ring is 29 degrees blow down. The bottom of the ring is at 131 degrees.

 

In this pick you can see were I made a line with a ultra fine sharpie.i ground down close to it with a carbide burr and will finish taking the humps out and smooth up with a diamond burr. Checking it several times by pushing a ring up in the cylinder with the degree wheel. When the corner of the ring matches the corner of my port in will be done.

I sure do, but I am just a little leery of the oiler on these. I have to run a 32" and a 36" ............
Miller has done a fantastic job on the jug, his saws seem to have the angry attitude I look for.
I am on the fence due to the oiler.
Thinking of moving the 038 Mag down the road to make room for one of his 7910's ............. I read whats necessary to modify the oiler, don't know if I like it
The 038 Mag oiler does just fine with a 36"

Hows your square filing coming along ?

 

Oiler is about like a normal stihl oiler. It will work with a 32" but not great for a 36" as is.

 

Well boys didn't get much done tonight. Had to go cut some wood. I had to fall back on the old saws all. That's what u get when you list your saws. Making room for new toys.
