Normal gas use is about 12 ccf/month. Ten more days in the billing cycle and we've already used 54ccf. Not a ton of money, but the whole idea is to not use it. This weather the last 2 winters has changed my thought processes a little. Gotta' adapt.
Today, I cut some and hauled nice seasoned mix of ash, elm and box elder to hopefully get me through the winter. Spring starts march 21. I'll start another thread with pics.
Ihauled in four more wheelbarrow loads to the wood shed. Would have liked to put up more, but my RA is flairling up and it hurts . Hope it is enough.
I hope so too Chief. You need to spend more time sitting close to that stove as it might help that RA. Yes, it is a rotten thing to have.
Actually Dennis the radiant heat does really help if I can get the body part that needs it in front of the stove. Heating pad doesn't help. The radiant heat is different.
I love it! I used to make paths for Buddy but he couldn't care less! He would rather make his own. Lol.
I bought a steam shower at my previous home, it didn't work as well as the wood stove (and now pellet stove here). Same observation, though I do love my heated electric throw blankets
I've got a face cord in the garage, and about half a face left in the wood shed, and I'm in upstate NY. Not looking good, Old Man Winter better give me a break so I can go cut some dead stuff..
My Artan has been making his own just like that the last few days. Every once in a while he stops and looks at me in disbelief, just his head sticking up the powder is so deep. There is no running on top of the snow this year. He has never experienced this before, in his 9 years. He loves the snow and usually goes leaping through it. This year it is plowing only. And he is making a few mazes, strategically placed along the road. He just keeps making each of those a little longer and a little wider each day. Every so often he obviously smells an animal, and the head disappears under the snow. Some of the trails are very long and winding now. Another day or so and he will have a system extensive enough for me to do a bit of wood gathering
