Your staying power has been impressive this winter Jeremy. All of you folks down that way have had a lot more than your share of fun... ;)

We used to chop ice off the roofs way back when. Of course, you don't want to use the pointy end when ya get closer to the roof for obvious reasons.
It all boils down to heat loss. Even if you can get that general area insulated extra-should be a better winter for you next year.
Till then, what we used to do was clear the roof. (snow and ice).
This guy may be going for a ride or repairing his roof...

    That really stinks.

I has my roof cleared last wednesday and they also removed some of the ice dams on the back/shallow roof. The roofing company owner brought up the stockings trick to melt some channels and said it works but usually not too well and then they re freeze too easily. Only real way to remove larger dams is by hammer and get a good 2 feet cleared at several points. They did that on my 2 ends and in the middle. Once the middle was cleared water started running out that was backed up behind the ice. I wasnt all that comfortable with the heavy banging but I was told by a trusted builder that this was the way to do it and he had faith in the guy I hired. I hope so...............This winter really sux

I did a lot of little things today. Cleaned and filled pellet stove at camp. Brought some Pine wood in from under the porch. Brought some Ash in as well. Moved a few more bags of less desirable pellets from camp to basement in house. Went to my daughters last basketball game. Went and rented a couple movies. One for kids and one for us. A good day.

Today was a good day for small time work. Bad part was the weather was decent and I wanted to be outside more.
My wife and I needed new cell phones so that was on the list of things to do, and of course doing dishes, laundry and some general cleaning.
I was still using an i-phone 4 and it was on it's last legs, my wife had a 4s and the battery was just about gone. So upgrades and new service today. Lets see how long it takes me to put this phone into harms way. Last time, I dropped the phone on the second day I had it from the top of a ladder, it survived. Do they make cases that are indestructable for constructions guys like me?

Yes. I have a Balistic case for my I-phone. Hard shell that covers the phone. Wrapped with a soft shell around that. Works very well.

Like Gasifier I've used Ballastic cases (I did like), and Otter Box's (its Ok). My personal flavor is the Life Proof cases. What Phone did you get? And Congrats!

Watching Big Hero 6 with the kids. On break right now while they talk to their big sister on the phone. So I made a little tasty drink. Does Vodka count as beer?

Okay, so it's not so little of a drink. It's in a large glass, with V-8 fushion Acai Mixed Berry, water, and some Absolute.
