The .22 rimfire shortage is from hoarders. Well, that's what the NRA says. I have not tried to buy any 22lr, and I've got a brand new stainless/ synthetic 10/22 in the closet. I've never even shot it yet. The plan is to get a decent scope on it, maybe a folding paratrooper stock and keep it portable.
My T/D stainless/ synthetic 10/22 has less than 500 rnds. through it so far. I stuck an ultra compact fixed 5X on it, but have yet to sight it in. But.. the little fixed 5X has been a good performer on a number of .22's. Bought a dozen of 'em a few years ago, for a cheap scope they work. The "green tip" 885 is not an armor piercing round, but now it is apparently. Because fired from a shorter barrel at lower velocity makes it more lethal. Yeah.... Just like the new ruling that "if" you intend to use an SB-15 as a shoulder stock on a pistol platform, you need to basically register it as an SBR. Tax stamp and all. Yet I have copies of letters from the BATF stating that a SB-15 is fine, they can't control the actual use of the device, it's OK as intended. WTH, who decides "intent"??
It's a bunch of crap to limit the 2nd amendment. I think the government is actually starting to fear a revolution. If 2/3rd of the military turns against them if they try to go police state then it won't matter anyway. I've talked with several people who were in the military and if they said they wouldn't turn on Americans if ordered then they were slowly ushered out.
