http://www.wfsb.com/story/28212911/...ts-in-short-supply-this-winter?autostart=true there's a shortage, remember
sounds like there is in CT..... easy for someone like me to get pellets early spring/summer since I have room for 6 tons in my basement but lot of people just can't store more than couple tons at a time when they will nee 4 -6 tons thruout winter.. lot of dealers won't store for you and good luck at BBS's.. you buy em, you taken em..
Lol, from the article Deb Cristos heats her all electric house with this wood pellet stove, simply because it's cheaper. On Thursday after already using 5 tons this season, she took delivery of two more tons." Does taking delivery of two tons sound like a shortage? Nope.
Nope, Just a shortage on smarts to have a bit more than needed on hand before the season is all I saw. I bet the call to the TV station was from one of the pellet dealers to create some extra panic.
I was in HD yesterday , where I used to work and was talking to a former co worker ,telling me how they went through a truck load in 24 hrs , and then they got 2 more trucks that evening , and who walks by ,the local tv news crew to do a story filmed in front of the pellet stacks
They said something about a not-so-scary pellet shortage here in Maine too, and then admitted it was just the big box stores that were getting thin, as they got ready for springtime stocks.
All I know is last year after all the doom and gloom I paid less for pellets then I think I ever have. TSC MWP for $225 a ton. Which are now going for $295 at a local shop. Buy em when you see an cheap. And if you don't have room to store many, expect to pay more, or perhaps not have access.
Make room ,I did . I used to stash 1 - 1.5 tons in the garage and have room to work out there ,but after last year when pellets were short not only at the big boxes ,but all my local suppliers too , I said never again and just loaded up this year . I gave up space to make sure that we would be warm some of that space was my Beer stash space , but I've never seen a Beer shortage at my house or the store I just have to make more frequent trips to the package store
The box stores around me must think it's fricking July and not February. Lawn mowers, grass seed and pool supplies are in full force. I heard today that this has been the coldest February since 1978. When it hits 32 degrees I fullly expect to see people golfing and ladies in bikinis.
Hard to mow the lawn with a foot plus of snow on it. Maybe if I bought one of them grills, It might help with the melting of it?
My temp this morning is -3 deg. and local TSC had potted flowers on shelves where the pellets have been stacked all winter. Not a pellet in the store ! Doggy
