I am going to be getting 6ton today to try these would like to know if anyone else has tried or even heard of them? For owbs only it says. The conversation with my buddy (I'm sure encouraged by the jaw dropping prices) quickly went from id like to try some of these to "i can fit 6pallets one ton each on my dump truck" three for me three for him. Obviously i know they need to be dry of the ground abd out of the elements, i have a lean to I'll be putting mine in abd covering with tarps. Would really love to know how anyone likes them. Input from me will be posted inn the next week or two add i try them!

"We are a wood product manufacture that produces a byproduct that will heat your home.
For use in outdoor wood boilers only!

These briquettes have been tested and burn at 8000 BTU/lb.
For example, Red Oak burns at 6500 BTU/lb.

The sawdust from our manufacturing is ran through a briquette press and collected.
We have bulk pallets of briquettes approximately 1000lbs each. $10 for each skid
We can also bag the briquettes in 50lb bags, they can be thrown in your boiler without opening. $2/bag.

We machine MDF, particle board, plywood, OSB and laminates."

So, you'll be burning all those byproducts.
Sawdust can be more than just wood.

I believe regular pellets are probably pretty close to the same thing they can't all be 100 percent wood

Lots of informational sources out there. Read the last sentence.
Would you burn any of those things in your stove or elsewhere if they weren't made into pellets?
    Just sayin'.
    This is from Wikipedia:

    Pellet Standards

Pellets conforming to the norms commonly used in Europe (DIN 51731 or Ö-Norm M-7135) have less than 10% water content, are uniform in density (higher than 1 ton per cubic meter, thus it sinks in water)(bulk density about 0.6-0.7 ton per cubic meter), have good structural strength, and low dust and ash content.[6] Because the wood fibres are broken down by the hammer mill, there is virtually no difference in the finished pellets between different wood types.[citation needed] Pellets can be made from nearly any wood variety, provided the pellet press is equipped with good instrumentation, the differences in feed material can be compensated for in the press regulation.[citation needed]. In Europe, the main production areas are located in south Scandinavia, Finland, Central Europe and the Baltic countries.[20][21]

Pellets conforming to the European standards norms which contain recycled wood or outside contaminants are considered Class B pellets.[6] Recycled materials such particle board, treated or painted wood, melamine resin-coated panels and the like are particularly unsuitable for use in pellets, since they may produce noxious emissions and uncontrolled variations in the burning characteristics of the pellets.

We're going to try to get a tour of the place and see just what all the material comes from and go off of that.

Just trying to give you a bit more info.
I can understand the draw of the extreme low cost.
Just reminds me of the Chinese manufacturers who added melamine to certain food products they sold here.

I don't know much about OWB's but I have to wonder about how they handle all that glue in those pellets. And yes, you are going to be burning A LOT of glue. I am not trying to be judgmental here so don't take it that way. Personally I don't think I could stand the stink them things are going to give off.

I would think the smouldering burn you see with some OWB operators would be a worst case scenario for putting some nasty junk into the air. Hopefully they at least burn hot since there's little moisture.

From the title, I thought the pellets were going to be injected with kerosene....Cheers!

My boiler is forced air when it calls for heat with a10 degree differential when i open the door with the fan on believe me there's zero smoldering going on. When the boiler sits idle there is very very little smoke going out the chimney. Depending on what I'm burning the first call for heat after a fresh load smokes a bit then after that very little smoke comes out.

Should be leaving my place at 130 or so to get them with the first couple chunks being thrown in around 4? I will let you guys know how it goes. Really hoping for little to no smoke! Wish me luck and no smoke!

im sure some clay filler also. prob lots of ash. there is a reason they state for OWB only. but at a penny per pound i can see the attraction. any way about it, that waste has got to go somewhere.

FWIW, ALL wood, not just oak, is 6660BTUs/pound at 20%MC. at 0%MC all wood gets over 8000BTU/pound. http://www.mha-net.org/docs/v8n2/docs/WDBASICS.pdf

good luck and let us know!

If these work out for you it could be helpful for dirty burners.

That's what i figured it's so cheap! And supposedly more heat to volume ratio than oak. Definitely worth a try. IMO.
Any idea how many btus I'll get out of the little bit of glue?

I'm hoping so. One guy i work with likes burning wet wood I've been prying on him to burn dry wood. If these work out good I'll give him a couple days worth to try out. The wood i have this year isn't completely seasoned but it's 10times better than last year and the way it's going I'll be on the three year plan before i know it!

Well guys we got back kinda late my buddy stuffed his boiler full (i knew how that was going to go) smoked like mad. But this was only the first burn it got to dark to see after than. Every load of wood you put in dry wet or otherwise the first burn is always smokey then it gets better and better. Definitely as i thought you can't burn it straight, tomorrow when we get my half here I'm going to only throw a few in and then other good wood on top to burn off most of that smoke. Well see how a second burn goes I'm guessing it'll get better and better.

Without a scrubber or after burner at 2-5k deg. you will be putting some nasty chemicals in the air, even if you can't see them. You need that ultra high temps to breakem down even with that I don't know what the down side would be - not a chemical eng. or organic scientist.

I'm surprised these are allowed anywhere but a waste to energy incinerator that operates at high enough temps to pyrolize the toxins and chemicals.

We ended up getting two pallets. We talked to the guys and they said there buyer bought a semi load and didn't buy another, who knows what they were doing with them. But i have a feeling they won't be selling to general public for long. Were going to get a couple sds sheets to see what exactly is in these things and go from there i don't want to put more nasty stuff inn the air than what i have too
