I know what you mean this place is a small local guy who deals in unfinished furniture ,bought a lot of stuff from him over the years got that dining hutch from him in the pic. We went up there to get a book case for the Man Cave , we saw this table and fell in love with it , we didn't know that he was a dealer of the Amish furniture , came home with the book case and an order for the table [ took about 8 weeks to get ] and a few less dollars in my pocket ,but money well spent :D

    Pic's of book case

Glad it worked out for you in the end. I was going to offer to build you a table until I realized that this thread started last Fall. Looks like you are set for life and will be able to hand that one down to one of the kids.

As a Buyer for American company that has purchased from Asian countries, I need to add that the price points are really set by sales, and engineering specs them. Then buyers need to keep that profit margin as close to that figure( or better) along with dealing with quality concerns and delivery schedules.

Just a bit of corporate fun I deal with daily. It's not stressful or anything:hair:

True dat! Manufacturing goes out of the US for PRICE not quality. If you want "made in the USA," then buck up and pay for it. That's what I do. I haven't set foot in Wal-Mart in over 10 yrs. I make it myself, do without or buy local in that order.

No problem I've hijacked enough of them. I like seeing quality furniture.

Man that would have been cool. Thanks for the offer I really do appreciate that. I don't have the tools or the patience to build my own. Would have been a good excuse to buy some new toys.... I mean tools.

Tables are the most rewarding to build. High visual impact for low work! Fussy drawers/cabinets, etc. are fine and all, but nothing beats big, wide open expanses of God's creation of wood grain like a table top!

I have 3 kids and 1 on the way. Our table is made of crayons, gum, boogers, food, pen, pencil, cereal, animal hair, and I think a little bit of wood.
