Work for Saturday

With some snow on the ground it's time I fire up the fireplace, I'll make my run back in then haul out some junk wood from this corner so I can burn it.

Once I get the fire going it's time I finish off what's left of this pile (pic 8158), maybe a NY face cord.

That sounds like a good plan woodlands. That fire will feel real nice today. It is zero here this Saturday morning. What do you have for a temp up in the hills?

 

We had - 3 when I got up. All the plans I made for today never happened, I took the pole saw to the trail. Pic 8252 had a chit load of face slappers before I limbed up this area, pic 8253 is just up the hill. Pic 8254 is before & 8255 is after, pic 8256 is before & 57 is after, pic 8258 & 59 are a before & after, same with 8260 & 61, 8262 I limbed up too.

It's close enough. It started out cold today but ended up very nice. I'm not sure what's going on tomorrow but I'll be outside.

Trail maintenance on the woods is an endless job.

Thanks, we had a dusting, but had a big rain Wednesday. No snow for now. We usually have some for Christmas, but I have seen it when we didn't.

 

I am learning this. I love doing it. There is just not enough time in the day. Oh well, it will be there when I get to it. I have to figure out how to retire earlier so I can work on it all the time.

 

The last pictures I put up is the area the snowmobile trail is suppose to come through, I thought that I'd start clearing that part of the trail so they won't have to do it.

Yes, the trail maintenance is never ending but it's not that bad. I will have a bunch of stuff to chip up next spring or summer.

 

That just reminded me of a time many years ago when someone took a picture of my father cutting grass down at the camp with the 9N tractor. Two or three days before Christmas. That must have been 25-30 years ago. Talk about a mild fall.

 

I think the Farmers Almanac is calling for a storm on the east coast Dec 16-19.

 

What do you use for a chipper woods? I am thinking of getting a lot of stuff ready all along the trail and then renting a chipper. Either blow it into the woods or try blowing on the trail to see if it helps with making the trail a little more stable.

 

We have a smaller DR Chipper.

 

Are you into that maple and beech yet or still burning shoulder wood ?
