Getting antsy with the snow, so posting this might help me to slow my hijacking of other threads. Went back through the pics I stored in my phone. Had several large Chestnut oaks uncomfortably close to the cabin when I bought the place and I contemplated having them professionally dropped, or do it myself. Finally decided to take them down, with the help of my brother. This pic (from this morning) reflects how close to the cabin some were. The far one was a double and I have cut the far side (~20" DBH) to the ground so I can get my toys to the back yard easier. Now for the pics from last spring. They are not in any particular order. The back yard Steep at heat pump side. We took down some trees below the chestnut oak at the heat pump. We did not want to take a chance on it hanging up. Edit: the last pic did not get inserted at the correct position.

That should have wore a little of that red paint off the splitter Them close to the homestead ones will always make one think about a little more ah. Neat pics.
Any pics of the log house you could put up? I love the look of those log walls! Nice suppply of wood there, too!!
Got the prints out. Log detail shows a rigid foam insulation, spline board, then a coating of either "textured masonry" or "Perma-Chink." I think my neighbor, who built it in 1984, said it was the perma chink. I have just owned it for 2 years.
