Huh? You had a Dutchwest, right? You didn't let the stove go out to dump ashes, did you? When needed, I just pull the ash pan before I reload; Obviously you're not gonna pull the pan when you're ramping up a fresh load....

I think the only time I used the door was when first bought to see how it worked and last month to see what the heck was leaking. I cut out a square of roxal to fill it in and wondering when I shovel, it might of pushed it down?
gonna be warmish here today so going to clean it out again and check it.:coffee:

Doesn't matter either you're shoveling the stove or the ash pan. Left ashpan full on CDW for some reason the stove ran better when the ashpan was full.

Yeah I did to otherwise it always seemed to burn to quickly for my liking.

When I used it I would only pull it right before a reload. The last two years I used it I left it full and shoveled the ash.

Hard to tell in the second pic but it is filled right to the brim. There was a little gap on the right side of the plate but not sure if that was the problem?

Another option I have considered is cutting a firebrick to fit in that location to fill the hole.. I have some broken pumice brick that I saved that would do the job easily..

Good call Ray  What I did was clean it out then opened it shot some cement around the seam then closed tight then filled the whole thing. No plans on selling it so as you know I don't mind 'tweaking' the T5.:drunk:;)

Yeah, I leave a lot of ash in the box on top of the grate...
Freeze a bunch of those Serranos this year, and you won't need a wood stove next winter! o_O

Grabbed a mirror and found this tube. Thinking of blocking it but pretty sure its there for a reason? Ray its to the left of the air control that was grooved out last year.

I believe that is the primary air tube which goes up to the air manifold. I have it too..

Can you explain the red glow a little more? Is it in a specific location or are all the coals just glowing?

I know I don't have an air leak and here is what my stove looks like right now with the air at about 1/4 of the way open at about 10 hours into a full load..

Remember there is boost air coming in to the stove dead center of the front door just about level with the coal bed. Which can make the coals glow. Where was you air setting at?

    Who Me?

95% closed Cert and here it is right now. Seems to be the ash door but I know its filled tight with that stove caulking.
Checked the door gasket which is fine and the glow is in the same spot all the time?
