We'll see how long a cart load lasts in the new stove! In the little Lopi, with the low temps that are forecast this week of highs in the single digits, a cart would last 3 or 4 days. I stacked this one a little higher than normal so it's not a totally fair comparison though. image.jpg
Looks like the wood was photo-bombed by Kitten the tailless cat.

Supposed to be another cold week here too, zero or below at night. I will re-supply the wood rack and enjoy my efforts :)

I'll be wait'n for the verdict, you know I'm bored when I'm counting the number of splits in a pic. That cart load would last 24 hours for me (maybe) with the single digit overnight temps. and neg. windchill we have had. But I'm using an insert without the CAT. Lopi is on my short list for a new one this spring when we do a remodel.

May I ask which model that is? How many square feet are you heating?

It's a Drolet Myriad. I'm heating about 1800sqft on the main level with the Daka handling the 900sqft basement, which is way overkill.

    Those splits are quite large.
Gotta' remember the Myriad is a much bigger stove, so even though it should keep things warm longer, it'll use more wood doing it.
Waiting  for the use report........:coffee:

Love that knotty pine wall Sam. Here's a picture taken in our house. My computer sits in that corner next to the sliding glass door. The stove sits to the left of that door.

Thanks Backwoods! Our living room/kitchen is all done in knotty pine including the cabinets, with doug fir flooring. It's what sold us on the house 4 years ago.

Looks like you've got a sweet little setup there as well!

I hear ya Dave. Those big ones are my overnighters, I hope! I'm trying to avoid the temptation to overload her and use more wood.

Thanks Sam. Yes, we love it. This is a project that we planned for many years. My wife tells people this is my cabin.

Heck no. Load that puppy up. Overload does not compute.
Get 'er crankin', then close down the air. The light show is very cool.

Nice looking set up there Sam, I must admit though when I seen the cat, axe and the chopping board my thoughts started to wonder….

Well, I loaded on top of plenty of coals at 730 this morning with the living room at 62. By 8 it was up to 72. The primary air has been shutdown since 830 and now at 2pm there's tons of coals glowing and it's 75 in here. If I reload now I'm afraid that I'll push it over 80 pretty easy! :)

Now, aren't you glad you got the stove?
Got the house up to 76 this morning. Bit too warm for me.

Yeah the thing with the morning load is I'm still using short Lopi length splits and I didn't pack then in either, 4 or 5 total. I'm going to keep letting the coals do their work and wait for the temp to drop a bit more. By that time the sun will be going down and we'll need the btu's!

So how long are the splits you have in there now and how long are the splits you were using in the answer?
Just wondering if you have room to put some across the back E/W, I do that sometimes when I have short pieces,
