so that there is the trade off...I drove that new Suburban last night a lot faster than I'd ever drive my truck and got high teens with it. Might have gotten high single digits with my truck...maybe.
Alright allright, WildWildWest is insistent that I share I took his truck after I found out it had heated seats.... (I already told you the truth lol).
Riding A hundred and fifty miles at 50 degrees, in the rain, on my heritage, I wished I had heated seats oh yeah it was vivid black
That's dredging up memories for me. I had an Audi 2.7 twin turbo A6. As soon as the warranty was up at 40k miles the repair bills started mounting up. Every time we took it in (3-4 times a year) it was a minimum of $900 plus normal maintenance. It did go liked a raped ape though when everything was working.
I liked the 2.7t, but they are just too needy. My allroad is a c5 a6 avant chassis, 145k on the clock, minimal issues. Flasher unit I replaced myself, iirc 40 bucks online original new Audi part, and a new CV axle due to boot crackage. Replaced myself about 200 for a quality proper replacement ( raxles), and a coolant temperature sensor, pita to get to, but under $20 original parts. That's it other than tires, and brake pads.
Yes, took us 2 years to find one in our price range w low miles on it. He traveled 8 hrs round trip to buy it.
I have been stopped at a road block and had my tank dipped here in Virginia. They were stopping every diesel vehicle. Less than 20 gallons of red in the tank is a class 1 misdemeanor, over 20 gallons is a class 6 FELONY in Virginia. And it is the same formulation as the on road just dyed for off road use. Yeah, they impound the vehicle and dump the tank to measure how much is in there.
I can't speak for the longevity of the ford 3.5l twin turbo but the towing power is really impressive. The torque curve looks more like a diesel than a gas engine. When this truck is ready to be replaced it will absolutely be another turbo gas engine unless the cost of diesel comes down significantly vs gas.
Nice truck! I had a 2010 with the 5.4 and it never did very well on fuel. Typical tank was around 15 and maybe mid 17's on the highway. My dad has a 13 with the 5.0 and he gets about the same as you do. The 5.0 is definitely quicker than the 5.4 too. We have a 12 Navigator with the 5.4 and it's a dog that's even worse on fuel than the 150 was..lol..
