I've got 1 on the back porch this morning and Ash and Pine gasifying in the boiler. 70 in the living room, 68 upstairs bedrooms, 60 living space above attached garage, and 45 in the attached garage.
A relatively balmy 21 degrees here. Giving the hedge a day off and switched back to oak. Headed below zero again in a few days so I'll have to go back to the bullpen for the hedge.
Yep, just a fairly simple outpatient thing that took about 10 minutes. Almost 3 hour round trip and a stop at a quilt store for her on the way back. Thanks for asking. Nice little change of pace this morning to see +13 outside temp. Almost 72 in here, so at least for today, the DV's getting turned off. Back up to almost 74 in here with just 5 small splits of Oak. Forecast says we've got another week of this pretty cold stuff hanging around, then warming quite a bit for March. I'll look again later, as I'm sure it'll be totally different by then.
Heat wave this morning at 27 deg (2 deg yesterday). Reloaded the basement stove with oak. Burning down the coals, from last nights hickory, in the upstairs insert. Snowing like crazy, on top of the 3" of ice and hard snow.
We were at 0 this morning, it's above 11 at the moment. Still burning Beech and Ironwood until we run out..........then it's just Beech.
Heatwave today, 18°. Loading some oak and locust uglies while hanging with my little girl. LOTS of locust and a bit of oak loaded in the house. Snow just started falling ...
Kind of brutal to come home to a house that is colder than any temperature experienced in two weeks but hey that is what Sugar Maple and Ash are for
Looks like 14º and snowing. Suppose to get 3-6" by the time it is all done. But today we did not get much at all. So I am hoping we end up with the lesser amount.
We're sitting at 18 at the moment, still burning Beech. Tomorrow we'll be pushing in ironwood..........maybe more beech.
I think we're around three inches of new snow. The sleds are in town today/tonight so someone is raking in some money, gas, beer and food.
Finally snowing out west. Windy with temp in the twenties. 79 stove room rest of home 73. Burning 2 year old c/s/s lodge pole last of it. 2.5 cords so far this year.
It's still about 18 degrees so I just loaded up the Liberty with Beech. The Pellet stove has been on break today and tomorrow too, it looks like we might need it this week for a few days then lets hope we can just go all wood stove. It looks like the warmer temps are moving in so it's time I find myself some topped off trees to cut.
We're a balmy 14F out. Going up to a high of 23F, then falling like a rock to -20 F: 43 degree drop. Record low (1993) for this date is -8F, so we will be 13degrees F colder than the record cold for the day. I'll be burning maple low and slow during the day, but really loading he stove in the late afternoon to get everything nice and warm for the overnight. Brought in the last of a cord of maple today. Have enough wood inside for about four days. Then have to decide which stack to attack next. Started in my cord wood just before Christmas, went through 3/5 of a cord, but then ran into all Ironwood, and since I have no Ironwood for next year decided to leave that and go on to the next stack. So, as of Thursday I will have gone through 1 3/5 cords, though this was a short cord, since between 1/2 and 1/3 of the cord was in shorter length: 12 to 16 inch, from huge boles that were not cut long. And a lot of shoulder season and tops and uglies I burned up until almost Christmas.
Almost 50 yesterday.. down to 15 this morning. Still warm in the house trying to burn down the coals right now, before the hedge goes to work. It looks like about 48 hours of winter than a couple warm days (near average) before dropping bottom again at the end of the week...
