    off C/L,
I browse through C/L about every day when I get off work, seen a listing for some walnut that was listed within the hour, email him and said I would love to come get it in the morning if that would work for you, told him I have a larger flatbed with a lift on the back

We writes me back right away and said sure come get it in the morning and gives me a address, said he has had a lot of requests for the wood and to let him know if i am not going to make it

Not sure why he picked me to get the wood if he had so many requests? But i am all over it.:DI just do not see any walnut over here like you guys do back east

He just deleted his posting so i cant show a pic but it looked like a nice full load for my flatbed

That pretty cool... Especially if its rare out by you. Walnut isn't the best firewood in the world and not the worst either, but I would jump on that just to have it in my stacks if the price was reasonable.

Maybe keep some of it permanently displayed next to the stove....?

I got a ton of walnut, been burnin' it for years now, it ain't hickory, but it ain't willow either. Easy splittin, dryin, and burnin'.......you got a great score there!

Hey Elder, you might want to save a block or 2 of it, some day you might want to make something out of it.....I don't burn it all.....

Ahhhh, After reading your all posts about walnut aint the best but aint the worst I decided to actually look it up. Hmmm is a bit lower on the BTU scale than I thought, Hell my Doug Fir is higher on the scale. Oh well I am a man of my word so I well go get it as promised. Thought I was getting something special, dont know why I was thinking it was the sh!t

It is right at 22 degrees here and been burning walnut all day , started the day a -2 and has been around 76 in here all day burning walnut. Don't pass it up burns great for me. If I was closer I would take your place getting it. I like it on days around 15 and up.

Hey it's free, will give you heat pretty good, and it dries fairly fast, that's a no brainer

That doesn't look quite like (black) walnut. Black walnut heartwood tends to have a much darker hue and the sapwood layer is narrower. If I had to take a guess I would say pignut or mockernut hickory. I'm going on the appearance of the sapwood and heartwood and the fact that it is advertised as a nut tree.
