Single digits. Near 0 tonight. I've had the flu and just let the stove go out last night. Couldn't deal. 70 inside now and just threw in a small load of pine. One minute I'm freezing the next I'm sweating.
-1º F on the back porch right now with some wind. They say a -12ish for a low tonight with a wind chill of possible -28. Ugh. Hoping all this cold we have had and are still having is going to kill some of those bugs we don't like around here!
Wicked bitter cold wind chill today.I've been out working in it all winter and today was by far the coldest windchill this year. High of 3 all day. -8 right now. Yesterday I finally got into the beech in the attached shed. January of 2007 was the last I run the mill and all this is from that era. So at a minimum its seasoned 8 years . Feels real good in here. Birds have been taking 5-7 days to empty feeder ,,,till 2 days ago. NOW they are empty daily ! I'm gonna find some ear corn tomorrow to hang out for them. We are in the heart of winter me thinx!
On our way down to 6F tonight... I don't know how y'all do it. That is cold for around here. Loading up with some maple tonight. My oak still needs another year. Maple is keeping us at 73 inside so all is good! Stay toasty friends!
Down to -14 right now and due for -21. Just about to put in the night load. Still workin' the Oak. Still too cold for the Maple. I'm hoping that'll change in the next week or less.
I've been watching the gauge out the kitchen window. I like to think that's the correct temp.....BRB.....yep, -19. Dropped pretty quick. House temp is dropping too, but should come back up once this load starts crankin'.......
We're at - 6 with the realfeels dropping to -30, we have the Pellet Stove going and a nice load of ironwood in the Liberty.
It's 6 degrees here now and supposed to go to minus 2 degrees tonight. I fully realize that's nothing compared to what a lot of you face, but the DC area hasn't reached 2 degrees since 1996. And I thought last winter was bad at 10 degrees.
I thought around Baltimore we got below 2 last year. Could be wrong but I remember working some really nasty cold days and nights.
I did a google search earlier that gave me the coldest days in DC for the past 25 years. By far the coldest night was 1996 according to that list. I only believe about half what I read on the interent, so it's possible you could be right.
Currently -4°F. -18°F with windchill. Supposed to get windier as the night goes on. So, wouldn't be surprised if we end up around -25 with windchill. I have not seen temps like this in the 11 winters I have been here. House is holding up pretty well. 75 in the rooms with the Defiant and the 30. Kitchen is 70, and the master bedroom is 68. Would be nice if it didn't require three stoves to do it as it is a grind by the end of February. Normal highs for this time of year is 43. We wont see that for a while.
