When the cold air moved in like it has for most of us lately, they just called them wood eaters.
We have a dandy going on right now.

Sorry I haven't been on the forum the last few days but our oldest son and his wife were here and we spent some wonderful time visiting. Didn't do much outdoors though. Danged wood eaters.

Forcasted high of zero today. I was hoping this would be the last really cold air of the season but I see more below zero coming. Tonight will probably be around -20 again. Our water pump froze the last time we got that cold but hopefully it won't happen again. Fortunately we caught it just as it froze so it did not take long to unthaw things.

Knowing the below zero weather coming along with a forecasted high of zero today my son helped get more wood onto the porch. He enjoyed it too! So we have enough there to get past this cold spell. We had 3 rows of wood in the barn last fall and we are now down to 1. Here's hoping for a warm March!

I thought I thaw a thaw but think the thaw went through, without thoroughly thawing anything in need of thermal therapy. So we thrash through the thick thoughtless Arctic thrust, and thread through and thrive in its thrill and hope that we thee a thaw thoon.

    Sounds like an apt description.

I've been calling this mega-cold days we've been having "ball freezers". I think the name says enough.....lol

Sounds like you had some enjoyable family time, Sav. I'm sure you and Judy enjoyed that a lot!

Thanks Scotty, we did have a good time. They live in PA but we could tell they were not used to these temperatures. They really had to bundle up when going outdoors. He could hardly believe it when I didn't even have my ears covered for quite a while but I did have to cover them later. You could hardly see his face and he was cold!! I told him he needs to spend more time in MI again. He agreed.

It will be stump winter for some if this cold continues, in the old days when they ran out of wood they would go find an old stump to cut an burn.

It can warm up and thaw out right after my birthday weekend on march 8th. Going to do a lot of snowmobiling that weekend, unless it thaws. Then I'd be mad. Renting a big cabin, having friends come up north, renting and borrowing sleds. The weather men say no thaw in the 10 day... Hope they can be right for once. To be honest, they've been pretty accurate around here this winter.
