Easy - move to the Pacific northwest where spring blooms started 3 months early, or move to Alaska where the winter has been so mild they had to move the Itatarod north.

    http://news.nationalgeographic.com/...dogs-sled-race-alaska-global-warming-science/

As much as we would like these things to be simple and easy and obvious, the effects of a degree or two of global average temperature are not as obvious as it just being one degree warmer on any given day where you or I live. We need to remember that short term weather patterns are not climate, and one cold winter doesn't not disprove climate change any more than one mild winter proves it. Its the trends that matter and the trends if you look at the average temperatures and the average ice cover in the arctic or the retreat of glaciers, etc are very compelling.

Even more confusing to average folks, is that the rise in average temps doesn't correlate directly to a rise in temps everywhere, all the time, equally. What it does is increase atmospheric instability leading to more extreme swings like the record winter on the east coast, the lack of winter on the west coast, the heat waves in Europe and Russia a few years ago, the record floods in India and south Asia, the droughts in China and Australia, and so forth. Climate researchers sadly had to coin the phrase "climate change" to replace "global warming" because so many average people will look out there window, see it happens to be cold today and assume therefore that they know better than decades of scientific research by the best minds in the field and make inane comments on the internet how its all "bunk" :picard:

I wont even comment on comments in that ABC article, like most news stories the people who posted in the comments section on average seem to be about as mature and informed as an 8th grader.

J, for years many of scientists have been saying yea were warming and no we are not and it's a natural occurance.
Nobody is going to change your mind if you have an opinion one way or another and I'm by far a weather scientist but I can say I worked with a few "very" bright people and an astronaut that has flown two missions in the space shuttle who is a literal rocket scientist.
I am a realist and can see the outside the box. It's easy to point at at one thing and say "thats the problem" when in reality there are many to look at.

    We have had these discussions on global warming, UFO's, Bigfoot, bla, bla, bla... and heres what some of the conclusions have been;

For as long as we have been keeping data and studing the earth, we know yes it is warming. But, you also have to take in "MANY" of the other factors that can cause warming to happen. Just one solar flare can punch a hole into the atmosphere and cause more damage then all of humanity will do in 100,000 years... Fact!
How can you explain that in one minute a wooly mammoth can be eating tropical plants, then froze in his tracks where he stand?
How can you explain that "ICEBERGS" were in Texas 20,000 years ago. Yes we are warming, "but" we have had 5 ice ages also that science has proven... How do you explain that?

There is just not enough data to support it one way or another, but regardless what any of us believe, "Mother nature will do as she will" and if that means destroying all of us, she will!
Lets talk about my little place in the world here in NJ. I've seen winters that we could nearly walk around in T-shirts and winters that we were "FREEZING" and a$$ deep in snow.
All the science in the world can only explain "SOME" of that. And I'll give you an example, the Gulf stream shifts can "drasticly" effect the temps and the weather of the coast and nobody knows exactly why this occurs. Is it due to heating or cooling?

Everyone can find all kinds of things to support or point things in their direction on the web. But the fact of the matter is, "NOBODY" knows for sure and man has only been industrialized for roughly 150 years. That isn't even a blink in the grand time frame of our planet and there is now way to know because we haven't been here that long to study it! All we can do is look at rocks, ice, soil, and inside trees for clues. Depending on where you go on the planet, you see different things! Heres another thing alot of people forget about, how many meteorites punch through our atmosphere a day? This will also cause more gamma radiation to bleed and assist in the heating process. All this is not cause by man and will continue to happen even if we turned off every thing thats polluting. Volcanoes will still erupt, forest fires will still occure, solar flares will still happen, gulf shifts will still happen, solar radiation and winds will still happen and just think, man isn't doing anything! Hmmmm....

A guy at work was telling me about Chupacabras the other day
"they are real...some lady has one in her freezer...but it was stolen"
    "Seriously...it was on TV"
I'm not kidding here. These were actual quotes from my coworker:picard:
He probably thinks Raystown Ray is for real also

    Remember this?

During the 1970s the media promoted global cooling alarmism with dire threats of a new ice age. Extreme weather events were hyped as signs of the coming apocalypse and man-made pollution was blamed as the cause.
Thats right folks, we're headed into an ice age. And its Your fault.
    Now pay up!

WeldrDave I saw on the news that they were bringing tug icebreakers through to break up the ice so travel can continue on the delaware which is rare.

Something more rare from the cold is that the politicians even have their hands in their own pockets for once.

Yes Sir, Some of my colleagues are and have been busier than they have ever been. The pictures here above of the ferry, well they just shut the ferry service down until further notice. I'll be seeing penguins soon!
