Recommendations on humidifiers under $100 that do a good job? The combination of super cold dry air outside and warm dry wood heat inside always dries things out in the house.

I can commiserate with you, uber dry in here despite 2 console humidifiers.

Set up a decent sized tropical fish tank. Dual purpose. :)

Pot of water on the woodstove. Mine gets refilled about 3 times/day, and holds about a gallon.
Even in these below zero temps, the RH stays above 25%, and when temps get up to mid-teens, it's above 30% easy.

I have an older sears console (wick type) humidifier in the stove room and recently put a cast iron pot on the woodstove.
I'm not sure of the cost anymore, my console unit is 15 yrs old. Whatever you decide on make sure it can handle your square footage and will accept enough water for a full day. They can take alot of your attention if they're too small

I have an old console unit, as well. It can put 8+ gallons/day in the air if I want it to. Don't have an hygrometer, just go by the static electricity and nose bleed indicators.

No idea on cost. Wife bought it at a garage sale for $2.

In addition to the Humidifier I also fill this up about 3 times a day

Here is the type I have used for the last several years. On Amazon and e-bay for around 65.00. This keeps the upstairs about 30 to 35%, you do have to flip the wick over couple times a day. Honeywell HCM-645

Yes, we are already doing the pot on the stove. It just doesn't seem to be quite enough. I've been gently boiling some water on the stove a couple times a day. That seems to help until I can decide on a humidifier.

My house only being about 1250 sq. ft. might be helping my situation.
In these real cold temps, we're getting a lot of static.
