We had to leave for about five hours today so we never run them when we're gone, we set the furnace at 58.

When we got home we kicked the pellet stove on and for quick heat we ran the propane fireplace for 15 minutes.

Well, I finally busted up 5 big pallets that have been in the garage, what a pain in the a.. SO, I want to burn this stuff and get rid of it right? Great for kindling, or restarts, or watching it blow up in the stove. However, I just mixed some in with a little Black Locust that was split in the summer. Thermonuclear Night!

Right at 0º here before bed time. Another early night tonight. Just filled the boiler with straight Ash again.
I'm going to have to bring in some more soldiers in a couple days to give them some time to get warmed up and dry out even further inside by the boiler for a few days.

Tryin to catch up,just read 5 pages of posts,I really am now feeling sorry for you guys!!Warmed up for 2 days, then went to crap, warm in valleys and rained but snowed and wind blew up here.Tomorrow gonna be warm but storm coming in fri.As far as people talking about block heaters, almost all vehicles out here get them new.the mag mounts work great but most new engines are aluminum(I use one on my air compressor out in workshed).Oil has changed, electric motor technology has changed(starter motors) and block heaters in a lot of lower areas will become obsolete.Stay warm my friends!!

Wasn't to bad last night at 17 degrees outside so I'd didn't put a full load in the stove. Burning some coals down and will be putting in some oak and hickory. Just looked at the 10 day forecast and it looks like lows will be around 0 degree all but two nights. So far the temps have been 20-30 degrees lower than our usual average this month. :headbang: Honestly I am ready for it to warm up a bit.

-2 when I left for work at 4:45. Loaded the volcano with some red/white oak and kicked the pellet stove up to level 3 for the mrs and baby piney. House was a toasty 69 and climbing as I walked out the door. Wishing I was still there to enjoy it haha :shiver:

10 day still doesn't look good for nearing the end of February! Getting back to "normal" temps sometime soon would be nice.

As the crow flies you may be 60 miles from us, and we are at 13 with NE wind. Milder than it has been....
