My brother called me this morning to ask me about an issue he is having with his snow thrower attachment on his yard tractor. It seams perhaps there is a bearing in the auger trans. that is making a bit of noise. Does anyone know if the thrower transmission has any fluid/grease in it ?
I cant locate any info online for this unit. I figure if it has a place to grease it he could start with that. If it does take fluid does anyone know what to use ? gear oil ? low temp grease ect... Thanks.
    Jim

    Jim, bump for you.

My 2 cents say the gearbox has grease.

I was checking the board this afternoon related to our new log splitter and I noticed this thread. The Split Second Log Splitter was developed and is sold by Agri-Fab, which also used to make this 46" snow thrower. The gearbox is supposed to have a special grease in it to lubricate the gears/bearings so if has leaked out that would be a problem. If you would call our Customer Care Team at 217-728-8388 they can talk to you in more detail about the problem you are having and help you with service parts as needed. If it is more of a problem than they can handle they will direct you to the actual engineer that developed the snow thrower and he can go through it in even more detail to help you out. If you have the Model Number for your unit you can pull up the original owners manuals from the Agri-Fab website. there should be a serial plate with that number on your unit. Either way our customer Care team can help you with all of this also. We do appreciate your brother as an Agri-Fab customer and will be glad to help him out anyway we can.

Thanks for your reply . I have passed the info on to my brother. He will call that number tomorrow. He says that there doesn't seam to be anything leaking but sounds like a bad bearing.
