I had something similar in my previous home, put a tap in one of the sinks faucet holes. It was super convenient. One thing we would do differently, our filter was under the sink cabinet in the back, it would have been easier to change filters if was closer to the front.

What I'm after is a the ice. We had one that had an automatic ice maker in the freezer. What a pain in the butt that was. We had to wash our hands, open the freezer, bed down and reach into an ice bin. The next one was in the door. We could get ice cubes or crushed ice. No bending over, no reaching into a bin for ice cubes. So didn't have to wash my hands every time I wanted some ice. Grandkids can help themselves and I don't have to be concerned where their hands have been.

I dare say this because of what you all have out east, but it's quite mild here lately......

Thanks. The biggest problem I have been having with refrigerators is the darn plastic drawers braking so often. I would like to find one with wire or strong parts.

I have a GE frig in basement it is 65 years old- yep still works- energy hog though, but nothing they have made that I have had over the ensuing years has stood the test of time. As time has progressed the cost of a frig has gotten to around $200/ year by the time they self destruct, with maybe 8-10 year life cycle( and that may be pushing it). 5 years ago one I had did a melt down( foam insulation was melting and running on floor) and almost took the house with it. I clean the compressor area about once a month so it wasn't from any dirt blockage.

Wife and I remodeled the kitchen in 2011. We had the countertops made offsite and my father in law and I did all the install. Our only regret is the color of the countertops. They're a black textured laminate. They look very nice when clean, but they show every crumb, piece of dog hair or dust particle that lands on them. We wish we'd gone with the granite look that would hide those things better.

My only saving grace is that I picked out nothing in the kitchen except for electrical related items, so I don't get any :heidi:.

The granite I put in will hide dang near anything in earth tones and then some. twist ties are annoying because they become invisible almost instantly. I specifically stayed away from anything quite soild coloration wise as well as very dark or light having learned those lessons in previous locations. If it wasn't such a pia to rip out the floor ( light solid colored tile shows everything) I'd redo that also.

if there is open access below the kitchen cabinet, mount the system between the floor joists in the basement. That's what I did, nothing in the cabinet that way.

We bought new appliances for thanksgiving, stainless steel.

The appliances are awesome, LG makes them! Stainless looks great BUT....too much maintenance if you have OCD.

I spend 1 1/2 hours cleaning 4 appliances. First I degrease the fingerprints, marks, drips, etc. Then I go back for final rinse and then dry.

Also if your wreck less you will stratch them easily.

I should have got them in white. They made them in gloss white too.

I designed and redid mine in 2011. Had a custom cabinet maker build the cabinets and supplied the granite at a super discount.
I should have planned for a slightly larger space between the cabinets and the dishwasher, doesn't hit but its tight.

Mine are Frigidaire, at the time they had a special coating that was designed to not show fingerprints. Side by side tests showed me it worked
The sales guy on the showroom floor actually convinced us to buy it as he said he'd be replacing his fridge when it failed with one.

Yes they have those but there is either a film or coating on it. Samsung is big on that. I didnt like that only because for the price you pay, it looked rather dull.

It just depends how much you use your appliances. My wife cooks every day so they get used. Then when I can't take it anymore, I go to work cleaning them lol.

My wife was ALL for stainless, notice what we ended up getting lol. But she changed her mind and says it's not worth the extra money if they don't stay shiny!
