How is ol Bear making out in this cold? Emma is only good for 10/15 mins out in her run. All day if I let her run the property though.

Thanks Rottiman. I did not think I would get near that much done with the way the wind was blowing early this morning. As long as I kept moving I was warm inside all my clothes.

Sometimes it's just mind over matter. Warm clothes don't hurt either.

Old Bear is in 7th heaven since I retired, and usually within 4-5 feet away from me @ ALL times. @ this moment he is stretched out on his futon here in the family room enjoying the fire.

Day off today. No snow in the forecast yesterday but woke up to a couple inches.

Went out to the woods and cut a load of some super dry yellow coal to get me through a cold week.

    Gonna finish the floor today.

I took two friends over to my camp/property yesterday afternoon. We took a short in distance but long in duration walk (maybe better described as a trudge) on the snowshoes. What would have been a leisurely 45 minute summertime stroll took 2.5 hours. You certainly don't go very fast when your sinking in up to your knees with snowshoes. On top of that one of my friends has 50 pounds on me and his shoes have about half the surface area. Third and last in line he was sometimes poking through up to his crotch on the path that two of us had packed down allready. But even with all the hardship it was worth the effort. It is so nice walking around the property. Peaceful and quiet except for the wind and a few creaking trees. And no bugs! We were dressed for it so the near zero on both sides temps and wind didn't bother us. We just weren't standing still for very long cause you could tell your clothing was near its limit. Especially when we got onto the road and walked back to our car.

I wish I could take a walk like that every day.

I caught part of that, some funny stuff. Then I was too tired out from all the outdoor work and cold, fresh air I got yesterday. So I called it an early night.

11 am and we're actually getting some snow,,about 10 degrees and zero windchill. Went out to feed the Hungry Monster, didn't throw on any "snivel gear" and definitely didn't want to stay out there any longer than I had to!! I get to work this evening, hope it stays quiet!
You guys play safe and be careful outside in these arctic temps!! Peace.

Just read your post to my honey. She remembers the hike into our cabin a few years back with 2 friends. Same conditions. I was toast after knocking the trail down going in. Had to get into a rhythm of lifting a shoe and snapping it to the side each step, to get rid of 5 lbs of snow on top of em. I like snow shoeing but I think I'm afraid I'll burn too much lard off my azz workin that hard...

Glad you got in and could enjoy the peace n' quiet scene at your camp Paul. It's wicked good brain food.

It was exactly that and more. And then you get complications like when one of the guys managed to stick the tip of his snowshoe under a branch or something else while we were bushwacking down a pretty steep spot. He had quite the time getting himself extracted.
